The Utah Guard is authorized 4871 people and have 4875 as of Oct. first according to Major General Maurice L. Watts, Adjutant Ad-jutant General. It has been a major concernof guard officials across the nation that without the draft, there would be a reduced re-duced incentive to join the guard and Army Reserve. Nationally the Guard strength has dropped to about 94 percent of authorized personnel. But heavy emphasis on recruiting re-cruiting bytheUtahGuardhead-quarters bytheUtahGuardhead-quarters has br oughtutah's total strength to 100.1 percent.
