Show modern mobile homes for treasure seekers of atomic age prospectors explorers miners drillers etc can now live and work in the wilds in remote mountain areas or on sunbaked deserts and enjoy all the comforts of home homet many of these modern mobile camps tho I 1 can t imagine why they are still called camps built and operated by the elder trailer and body company of denver are already successfully operating on the colorado plateau and in other sections of the U S where sizable groups of people must czi live temporarily 41 4 31 0 N 1 av K A 4 this is the exterior of the elder dining room trailer at the right is W L treadway party chief for the crew of western geo physical men who are living in this camp mrs J 11 II grouse crouse who cooks for the group is standing on the steps next to her is jim crouse who operates and purchases supplies for two of these camps the crouse trailer is in the background al A wt W t 41 IF A here is the interior of the modern con convenient and sparkling clean kitchen of one of the new mobile camps built and operated by the elder trailer body inc of denver the camp operators mr and mrs J H crouse are shown hown at the end of the kitchen this streamlined kitchen located in the middle of the green river des ert is 27 miles from Hanks hanksville ville the nearest town but it has every thing from electric lights large electric refrigerator huge deep freezer gas sto e running hot and cold water big double sinks to meat chopping block ample work tables and cabinet space galore the kitchen trailer is set next to the dining room trailer and for convenience they are connected by a short enclosed movable hall way the attil attractive active and cheerful dining room will seat 25 peo pie both trailers are 28 29 feet long J t here is a of W L Trea treadway duay party chief for We western geophysical studying a map in his pleasant modem office trailer the interior of this well lighted air cooled and conveniently out fitted office is as inviting as any in the big city the other end of the office trailer is a comfortable bedroom for two or even more r 4 at the right is the elder supply trailer containing the clean linens extra blankets soap cleaning agents tools spare parts and other paraphernalia that might be needed by a crew far away from civilization next to the trailer stands the electric power generating plant which furnishes all the electric power used in the camp vil lage the truck is one of the water tankers used to haul water from hanksville Hanks ville 27 miles distant k 01 4 e 4 ak 4 t q w x p the two trailers in the center foreground are elder sleepers each trailer has 9 comfortable single bunks and 9 lockers for cloth ing the trailer at the extreme left is a modem elder rest room and shower containing four wash bowls fancy flush toilets several showers and another locker for each person in camp all trail trailers ersi are heated with forced air gas heaters the fans in the heaters can be operated in hot weather to keep the air in constant circulation for summer comfort this particular camp has 9 or 10 trailers it is the business of the camp operators employees of the el der people to do all of the food and supply purchasing to keep the crews supplied with clean laundry and linens to keep an ad equate water supply on hand to keep the electric gas water and sewage equipment running smoothly and to do the cooking and serving of meals the pictures in this group were taken on the green river desert 35 miles from green river utah this group of trailers known as camp no 6 is operated by genial mr and mrs J H crouse for the elder trailer and body inc our deep freeze contains enough food to last 10 days for the entire camp said mr crouse as he opened the deep freeze re re many plump turie turkeys chickens roasts and hams ice cream home made pies and doz ens of packages of vegetables ege tables and fruits we always serve turkey or chicken and ice cream on sun days he continued he also showed us the ingeni ous sewer system which insures safe sanitation by piping the sew age downhill and underground far away from the camp in win ter time the pipes are wrapped with electric heating elements and insulation to keep them from freezing mr crouse who SUD supplies plies the needs for two camps which in elude clude more than 50 people does most of his purchasing at green river and price utah the pic tures and cut outlines lines tell the rest of the story |
