A defect in the law which seemingly allowed a few devious Utah boaters to register their boats in other states, although they were used in Utah has been corrected. The one 90 day consecutive registration reciprocity period per year now applies only to non resident boat owners who bring their craft into Utahn. If out of state boats be in Utah in excess of the 90 day consecutive period but less than nine months a Utah registration must be obtained; but the home state number and registration will continue to be valid also. Wildlifers Have Varied Backgrounds What right does your professional group have to make deci-soconcerning the use and management of the public resources under its jurisdiction? This was the Conservation Week challenge posed to a panel of resource managers during activities at Utah State University last week. The panel consisted of representatives from the Soil Conservation Service, National Park Service, Division of Wildlife Resources, Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and the USU Cpllege of Natural Rens sources. Jack Rensel, Regional Super- visor, Division of Wildlife Resources, cited the varied background and training of Division personnel as one qualifying fac- tor in the right to manage public resources. He stated that among the 235 fulltime employees were 81 with bachelor degrees, 43 with masters degrees and one PhD. Division personnel come from 23 states and have attended 32 different colleges and universities. Most panel members agreed that people management was becoming more of a problem than resource management. There are many publics interested in our natural resources and each one would like to see the resources managed for their benefit. Mining, lumber, agriculture, grazing, recreation and oil and gas production are all valid uses of the states resources. The resource managers must set priorities and manage the resource for the greatest good of all the Navy Nurse May Corps celebrated its 63rd anniversary.
