Schlappi In Stansbury Post Candidates Turn Out; Now Voters Have Duty To Respond Dalton Powell Whittle Bringhurst - I am forward to GRANGER. It is encouraging to witness the many citizens in Murray and West Valley City responding to the "call of the ballot." Voters in both cities this fall will be going to the polls to elect officials under new forms of govern- ment. For Murray it will be council mayor; for West Valley, council manager. working in the Stans-lookin- g bury area; I am glad $ ? Candidates are numerous in both cities and the number could increase before Monday's filing deadline. With the candidates displaying their civic responsibility, it now becomes the duty of the electorate to get involved. An active electorate does not wait for the polls to open, but starts learning well ahead of election day who the candidates are and what they stand for. If only the "best" candidates are to survive the primary and advance to the general election, then the voters must be selective in placing their "X" on the ballot. Hopefully, with a greater number of candidates on the ballot, voters will turn out in greater numbers - a necessary element in making the new, more representative government work.
