Show senator reed smoot introduced the following bill in the U S senate on january 24 A juill bill granting to the state of utah the fort duchesne reservation er for its use as a branch agricultural college be it enacted by the senate and house of representatives of I 1 the united states of america hi congress assembled that there is hereby granted to the state of utah for its use as a branch agricultural college the follow ing described lands of the unit 1 ed cd states the southwest ter of the southwest quarter of section twenty three the south half of the northwest quarter of the southwest quarter of section twenty three the southwest quarter of the northeast quarter of the southwest quarter of section twenty three the west half of the southeast quarter of odthe southwest quarter of section twenty three the northwest quarter of the northwest quarter of section twenty six and the west half of the northeast quarter er of the n northwest quarter of section twenty six township two south range one east uinta special meridian containing one hundred bundred and fifty acres more or less together with all buildings we still contend that it is the thereon and appurtenances thereto being the lands and buildings of the fort duchesne reserva tion utah as def defined ined in E executive i becu order numbered fifteen I 1 hundred d and seventy nine august nineteenth nineteen hundred i and twelve and the secretary of the interior is hereby authorized and directed upon the applina 1 tion of the governor of the state of utah to issue patent to the state for the lands herein grant ed cd upon the express condition however that if said lands and buildings are not used as a branch agricultural 0 college or if the state shall at any time I 1 use or permit the use of said lands and buildings for any purpose not contemplated by this act the same shall revert to the united states |
