Oreat damnge was done within the city, but apparently appar-ently llttlo harm was done to shipping In Savannah harbor, ample .notice of the storm's nppronch having been given by the weather bureau. Tho streets are filled with debris, consisting principally of uprooted trees. Street enr service Is lied up. As far as known there has been no I loss of llfo In this vicinity due to tho storm. Reports are lacking from tho low lying Islands adjacent to Silvan- I nnh, which are Inhabited principally by negroes. I The cotton crop within a radius of fifty miles of Savannah undoubtedly has suffered severe damage. Tho revenue cutter Ynmocrnw Is on the alert In the harbor, but so far no calls for assistance have reached the vessel by wireless. Reports from Tybeo Reach Indicate that everything there Is safe.
