softball season drew to an exciting conclusion Sweeping through the season with an unblemished 0 record Big Mac proved too powerful for the rest of the competition After taking over first place on opening day the talented Mac squad never relinquished their hold on that coveted position The new champions relied on a stingy defense and a highly potent offense to come through when the pressure was on In the last week of play Big Mac was A 6-- ten pushed before innings downing the Wildlife team 10-- by Laura Laycock and then barely squeeked by the Turkeys 10-- 9 on the final day in a fiercely fought contest Upward Bound Mac’s closest rivals Upward Bound and the Triads both lost two games and had to settle for a second place tie Upward Bound the defending champions never could quite get untracked after suffering an early season loss to the new champions Receiving trophies for their championship participation were Big Mac members Ricky Weber (captain) Bob Scott Pat Jensen Mark Warr Emil Godfrey Mark Dave Beck Lefens Gary Stimson Mike Nunez and Sherry Bowman 4 once again fantastic as he plays by Laura Laycock for Student Life For pure entertainment that does not require much of one’s intellectual thinking processes “Come Blow Your Horn” is a dejjhtful way to spend an evening Kim Christison aptly played the role of the typical bachelor Alan Baker tertaining: con- complete with Scotch burbon and women he led us from his care-fre- e as life- His into matrimony younger brother Buddy Baker played superbly by Patrick Williams per usual takes over where his brother left off and turns from the innocent young man into the man about town Gus Demos as Mr Baker is style Ms extremely the Jewish father overly cerned with family and business matters One cannot help but wonder however if he would be equally fantastic in another role as he is always cast as the same character as is his “wife” DeFran-cesc- o played by Mary Ellen who also did a marvelous role but who may have her in job over played the Jewish mother a bit Perhaps casting them both in different roles would be the telling point of their true talent Keeler with her adequate well delivered lines and Ms Murray with her naivety Perhaps the most diappointing part of the entire play was Leslie even though she had a minor role she reminded the audience that indeed it was just that a role Overall the play was delightful witty entertaining and required that the audience merely sit back relax and be entertained Perhaps the company will now realize that it does not need to attempt to overly impress the Allred Martha Keeler sparkled on stage to surprise the audience with her acting ability a rather nice change from her part in “The Fantasticks” Marilyn Murray convinced the audience still that the Blow Your Horn” ” i Production scheduled USU studies phenomena the atmosphere and the recording instruments on board the rocket will record the effects of the electron bombardment on the atmosphere Glenn Allred senior by media department The Instructional Media department will hold a multi-medi- script and screen production a 6 FRANKLY SPEAKING by phil frank technological editor of Electrical ace Sab to auneh rocket wide- Smellie said the production involves a script composed with a variety of visual images projected on a screen He said the entire production should have a definite effect production workshop Aug from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Don Smellie instructional medial department chairman said the workshop will instruct participants how to write the 12-1- the Atmospheric phenomena will be studied in an experimental rocket launching by Utah State University Space Science Lab to take place in White Sands New Mexico on August 23 David Burt chief engineer for the Space Science Lab and Fred Riebeek resident senior technician will travel to the White Sands Missile Range later this month to prepare for the launching of a rocket testing the chemical composition of the atmosphere Project PRECEDE will launch a rocket with a payload of three Aeronomy Engineering Publications said The lights created by the electron guns will determine the types of chemicals present in the atmosphere During the winter months members of the Space Science Lab at USU travel to Poker Flat Alaska and do a similar study when the Northern Lights are visible electron guns into space These guns will create their own “micro-aurora- ” much like the Borealis Aurora PRECEDE is a preliminary voyage to iron out some of the possible problems in future Space Lab programs (northern Lights) The electrons will ionize Furniture workshop yields 64 projects A four-da- y workshop on fur- niture refinishing yielded completed projects of many which will be on display at the 7 Cache County Fair Aug
