Show RAPP WARNS AGAINST GAS STORAGE More than 650 gallons of "hoarded" gasoline have been confiscated by the Logan-Cache fire department, Chief C. W. Rapp revealed today. Warning that store d gas "creates a serious fire hazard" in the city, Chief Rapp said that the excess gas would be picked up by his department as fast as possible. He estimated that there are thousands of gallons gal-lons stored in the valley. He urged motorists who have the precious fuel put away to return it to their service station or bulk plant and receive either credit or cash. Procedure for the "gas raids" has been to warn the holders that they must sell it and return a receipt for sale or face serious charges by the city government. The average call netted about 60 gallons, he said, although some had as high as 150 gallons put away. Similar action is being be-ing taken in Salt Lake City and Ogden where fines for such misdemeanor mis-demeanor has been levied at $25. 'Pointing out that "hoarders" can loose gas rationing privileges, priv-ileges, he urged the cooperation of all Cache residents in returning return-ing the gas and eliminating the fire hazard. |
