Show Postmaster Jack Green I ON ON THE STAR ROUTE ROUTE- I Writes W Well of or Postoffice By J J. J C C. C Green Cren Jr A California subscriber complains complains com com- plains that he would like to se sea see Bee seea a little more local news newn and a little less post office In this col col- col- col He lie points out that he hEi has faithfully followed our oui previous suggestions by mailing his Christmas Christ mas cards and parcels early that he applied stamps on all the cards and even used some commemorative com corn stamps Now he feels that he Is entitled to some local color Very well Sir we will attempt to sprinkle the column with a little lit tie tle more Park City news however we must point out that we are certainly no Father Cullen and In our opinion no one could duplicate his Very n newsy and Instructive column Incidentally we had a acard acard acard card from Father Patrick the theother theother theother other day and If it we are any judge we would venture a guess that his heart Is still up here In the hills We also heard from Dill Bill Button Dutton who Is now living in Torrence Torrance California Dill BUI reports that he lives about a half a mile from the Gene McCusker family and they are able to visit back and forth quite often He mentioned that they had a good old fashion ed snow storm in Claremont and I Ifor for awhile he he thought they were b back ck in Pa Park k City We wish they were After reading David Orrs Orr's letter In the last issue we were prompted prompt ed to shout Bully Dully for you David Orr At last we have a champion even if he hasn't lived here in I some thirty-five thirty years Mr Orr covered our situation beautifully Park City has forgotten more history history his his- tory than most of our prim and beautiful sister cities ever made and it was the kind of history that we are prou proud of As Thomas I Paine or rather David Orr points out out had had It not been for Park City Eureka Ophir and one or two other mining camps camp the Main I Street of Utah's metropolis would be a forlorn sight eight Look for a moment down Salt Lakes Lake's Main Street and consider that the riches that were dug from the Park City and Eureka hills built I Ithe the Kearns Kearn's Building the present Tribune Telegram Building the Walker Dank Bank the Boston Doston and Newhouse buildings the Judge Building and the Newhouse Hotel Why with only two exceptions you could pole vault over the rest of them We think that you ou will agree that the mining towns of of Utah have quite a contribution to to the sky line of Utah's Capitol City I It is difficult to understand this attitude of disdain for our historic mining communities on the part of so many Our sister I states of oC Colorado Nevada and Montana point with Justifiable justifiable pride to their cradles of history I Why not Utah All of us have heard of Leadville Lead Lead- ville vine Cripple Creek both Virginia Cities Clues and Butte Dutte spoken of in terms of pride rather than ridi ridi- cule An opera has been written about Leadville the Tabors and Baby Daby Doe and incidentally the opera we refer to will be presented present present- ed next Sunday evening on Omni Omni- bus Its It's high time our f fellow pow recognized the part the mining industry has played in the history and economy of our state and give II credit credit where credit is due Yes Yes Yes' Mr Orr your loyalty is appreciated You are our plumed knight Clarence Darrow couldn't have handled our case better And Dave for your Information n they are going t to have a tough time relegating us to the bone yard or t l 1 ghost town stat status i. i I 1 I America honors its presidents In many ways
