Mrs. Mrs Mrs. Mrs. Mrs. Mrs. Miss - An arrangement for Current Events program recently carried out in a Eew England womans club might be followed advantageously by many clubs as a means of bringing many into an afternoons entertainment, instead of one person giving a paper and mentioning all the current news. Such subjects as Congress, New Literature, Taxes, Crete, Cuba, Trade, the Tariff Bill, Turkey and Armenia, New Discoveries in the Electrical Work, etc., etc., were assigned to different persons, and the program was varied and entertaining. The Womans Republican Club met November 22nd., and elected Mrs. A. J. Johnson, President, and Mrs. Easton, Secretary. On Monday afternoon Dec. 6th, a social and literary afternoon will be given at the home of Mrs. F. C. Kelsey, 249 Third East. A delightful program has been arranged, and every one who comes, will get a great deal more than ten cents worth, the price of admission. Everyone invited. Federation Pins. The Secretary of the State Feder- ation has quite a stock of the pins adopted as the state badge, on hand, which would give a sum of money to carry on expenses if they could be JOHNSON'S PHOTOS. 46 S. It is with regret that we learn that Mrs. Coray was compelled to resign the presidency of the Nineteenth Century Club, owing to ill health. Mrs. Coray is one of the most capable and progressive club women in the State, and we feel sure the loss of her able leadership for the balance of the year is regretted by the Provo Club. The consular agent of the United States at Edmundston, New Brunswick, during a leave of absence of J. Adolphe Guy, is Miss Emma Hart, and this is probably the first instance in our history where a woman has been duly authorized to act as a representative of our government abroad. Mrs. Rorer, the correspondent who has charge of a department in the Ladies Home Journal on Cookery, says that that French coffee invariably has chicory added to the Mocha and Java which very much improves this beverage. The proportions are 4 parts Java, 1 part Mocha and part chicory. |
