Show Sports Here and There by Al Ablett It looks like the monsoon season sea-son is over and outdoor sports can get into high gear. The high school team has had several games rained out so they should be busy from now until the end of the season. They beat Murray in their only game and they play Tooele here today. The Industrial league season opens Sunday with our club opening op-ening against Brigham City at the Copperton park. I understand under-stand the game is at 4:30. Manager Man-ager Wilson hasn't picked his starting pitcher, as the weather hasn't let him have much time to look the boys over. I One thing is certain. Bingham will have one of the best parks in the league. The Copper Co. has put a great deal of work on the park, bringing new soil for the infield, and the grass is in splendid condition. With its natural na-tural setting, this is truly a beautiful park. I am sure the fans will sup- Eort the team, as Bingham fans ave always done. Utah U. is still leading the college league. They took a double header from Montana and they play the Aggies Saturday Satur-day at 2:00 in the afternoon and 8:00 at night Saturday. A clean sweep nere would just about put them ove,r The Bees finany got to open at home, and they turned in a 3 to 2 win over Billings, with Mgr. Kittle striking the side out in the 9th with a man on second sec-ond and third. Cold weather has held the attendance down a-round a-round the league, but they turned turn-ed out 3000 strong in Derks field. With a winning ball club, Salt Lake will pack them in. But for me, I'm going to watch the Bingham Miners. See you at the game Sunday. AL " |
