County Clerk Vickers is setting a new precedent in his office by directing that all legal and probate notices shall be published instead of being posted as formerly done in the majority of instances. Of course the object of posting or publishing a notice is to inform the public that a certain will is to be probated, or an estate to be administered upon and the like, so that any one interested may come in and have his Ray at the proper time. In the early days before the advent of the newspaper, the only way possible was to have such notices posted, generally in three places in the community. The newshas is read in come and paper practically every home, but the old custom of posting has still obtained. The clerk with his little hammer would post his notices on some old tree, or on the walls of some building, where a few loafers, might possibly read, could they get a glance at it before the mischievous small boy had it torn down. Rarely does the tax payers and busy citizen stop to examine old trees to see what announcements might be hanging there, and so the posting has become a mere farce, and the public, who by law, are entitled to receive information cn Taking effect last Monday the R. M. B. Tel. Co. have made several changes in their toll rates as follows. The minimum rate to Salt Lake is 75c for three minutes. Formerly, the rate was 30c for one minute, 40c for two, 55c for three minutes. The rate to Provo is 40c for 3 minutes, formerly 25c. The 25c rate for 5 minutes to Juab is changed to 20c for 3 minutes. The rate of 30c to Ft. Green is changed to 25c. Free service is given to to Levan and Mona, while formerly they were charged.
