Show Alvin Joslin Tomorrow eveningAlvin Joslin and company appear at the Theatre in the drama of that name It is certain to draw We take the following fol-lowing extract from an exchange Never since the appearance of Joe Murphy has there been such a scene at the Opera House as was presented pre-sented last night on the occasion of the second production here by Chas L Davis of the laughterprovoking character comedy entitled Alvin Joslinwhen nearly every seat down staiis had been secured and as the front row in the balcony had not been reserved there was naturally a watchful eye kept for favorable positions in that part of the house This fact led to an early attendance of a large portion of our citizens and when shortly after 7 i oclock the doors were opened a grand rush was made for the ticket office by a crowd of several hundred people assembled in the street From that hour until a few moments after S oclock a steady stream of people poured into both entrances filling up all th available space so that ma ny wer obliged to go away without even seeing the inside of the building The balcony was crowded to s u han h-an extent as to render it almost uncomfortable un-comfortable the aisles being packed full and all standing space at the back taken up The curtain went up at the usual hour upon the next largest house of the season the receipts re-ceipts footing up somewhere about 64GO Of the play we do not purpose speaking at any length as Mr Davis is well known to our people His impersonation of Joslin is even better bet-ter than on his first appearance and he is very fairly supported The play gave the utmost satisfaction |
