Show Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues, August 25-28, 2018 The Park Record C-7 KUED books a theatre with the SL Film Society Local authors plant to appear at the Sept. 4 event Submitted by KUED KUED and the Salt Lake Film Society will hold a launch event for the upcoming PBS series, “The Great American Read,” from 6-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4,. at the Broadway Centre Theatre, 111 Broadway, in Salt Lake City. A special screening of the kick-off episode of the series exploring the power, passion, and joy of reading will be shown at 7 p.m. The series features reflections from everyday American as well as notables on America’s 100 best-loved novels chosen by the public. Viewers can vote for their favorite novel at kued. org/greatamericanread. Before the screening at 6 p.m., attendees will be able to meet two local authors, Ste- Continued from C-4 Nonprofits honored at event Since the Promontory Foundation was established in 2006, $1,432,100 has been raised for non-profits. As a result of the matching grants, the total impact of funds raised has been more than $3,500,000. The following non-profits were awarded grants from Promontory Foundation: • Ballet West • Community for Children’s Justice Center • CONNECT Summit County phen Trimble and Michelle Tago-Tu’itupou, learn about KUED’s “Book Club in a Box” project, and network with other book lovers. The public reception will feature light refreshments and a book exchange. Anyone bringing a book will receive a book by Trimble or Tago-Tu’itupou. RSVPs are required. The book voted America’s favorite novel will be unveiled in the last episode on Oct. 23.
