SCERA Is short for clared Fred Davies, well known former of Orem, "Sharon Cooperative Educational Twin Pines of and owner the now in Denver, Colo., living Recreation Association", and they Town the of in an located the heart Orem, just opposite say you "cannot pass thru cafe, association: why not say hall on the State highway, as lie spoke feelingly and short. We re.-ido- nt "SHAR-ONtf- or have sounded this out to many persons, without any serious objections so far. There is a Sharon ward in the Sharon stake. Also a Timpanogos ward, but the Windsor ward Is In the Timpanogos stake, so by calling it Sharon we are not following "stake" lines, and we shouldn't because SCERA is not a CHCRCII organization. But since the first letter ot SCERA means Sharon, many have suggested that we call it Sharon for short, and then everybody will know where we are talking about. And that goes (unless somebody else raises more serious objections), and we will "pass thru Sharon" each week, which includes all those areas included now in Grand View, Lake View, Vineyard, Edgemont, Pleasant View, as well as the other three wards already mentioned. Numbers on Houses in Orem was agreed upon, but few houses carry numbers, nevertheless, even in the business district. We ; oticed "Jim's" had No. 824, which means he is between Eighth North and Ninth North on State Street. We noticed too that Sam Hampshire bad his number, 756. but so far as we caught sight of houses as we passed, none others had numbers on them. Hats oft to Jim and Sam for their Initiative the rest of us must or should now follow suit. New Businesses reminiscently to the Board of Directors of the Orem Chamber of Commerce, Monday evening, during the first banquet ever to be held In that new and beautiful cafe, so exquisitely finished after months of work by high class workmen with first grade materials. Mr, Davies, fulfilling a dream of his bojhood years, has Invested in "Twin Pines", for heavily since he can remember, he has wanted to own a nice place In the heart of Orem, he declared at the banquet. Touching indeed were Ills remarks of those earlier days, when, with other old timers of Orem, he used to haul truit to the Salt Lake market, and dream dreams as he passed over the long and weary road. Today he is a man of plenty rf means, whose money means less to him, he says, than his dreams, and his Investment In Orem, while not due to bring revenue like other investments might be made to bring, yet bring rejoicing in the realization of one dream at least o Ills youthful days. Hundreds of poople have inspected the Twin Pines cafe since the grand opening Saturday and SuDday, and all declare its appointments perfect, wuh no labor or means spared to make it first (lass in every detail. The dining room will accommodate 43 people, and the Spanish room will care for an additional 60 guesst. It is designed to provide a meeting place for clube, societies, organizations, at breakfast, luncheon, or d! ner, as well as for dancing parties, and Even a drive-iprivate parties service will be provided when the weather permits. Census Reports are in showing 1632 children in school in Lincoln district. Ia spite of the supposed influx of people into this community, this is only 15 more students than were enrolled last year Guess most of the new newcomers must be bachelors. That would be a "break" if it were true. Thirteen girls of school age are out because they are married and 8 boys and 2 girls are out because they graduated before 18. Thirteen hoys have left the state or joined the C.C.C. tamps. Only two of the 1632 are listed as unable to ri ad or write (that does not include children btlow eight).
