Show Escalante Chit Cha BY FAY ALVXY The mud is not too sticky now on the South sides, but the North are bottomless, the sun is nice so there Is hope of solid ground again. The stragglers are having flu, they thought they had escaped but it caught them. Claron Barney went to Richfield to be with his brother Afton who suffered a heart attack. Donald, Darlcne and Dl-Anne Griffin went to Provo to see their mother Ella who had surgery, the family of Alburn Griffin are standing by as he is not feeling so good. Lloyd Gates is still in Salt Lake City undergoing tests. Whitey and Maralda went back for his checkup and he Is doing ok, gets around some. Geneal Frazier and Hode Al-vey came home for the weekend, they reported Ba doing fine. They may let her come home in another month. James Mclnelly gets around on crutches and drives some. Dane Smith, son of Jed and Garneal cracked some bones in his foot and is on crutches. Elda Haws joined family members in Salt Lake City and they flew to California for a family reunion. Judy Griffin, Karol and Kacee Kelly spent a few days in Wyoming with her folks. Nancy Everett and Virginia Luellen had business in Cedar City, so did Geraldine and Gary Liston. Robert Haws and Cleo Lyman spent a few days home then went to the Vernal area to work. Susan McGee visited at the Rodney Cottams. Sonny and Joyce O'Neal and boys spent the long weekend in Idaho. Jim Gates got word that his mother Emma is hospitalized in Salt Lake City. They did not encourage relatives to visit on account of the flu. Earl and Angela Brooks and Virginia Dane spent the weekend in Las Vegas. Claron and Ruby Griffin are home after spending the cold weather in Phoenix, Arizona. They had Janet Spencer and kids here from Orem for the weekend. Vivian Greaux and Betty Schow came from Salt Lake for the weekend with their Shurtz relatives here. Helen Sh-urtz and Dal Wilson had business in Logan and Cedar City, it was not flying weather so they drove. Dale and Susan had a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Wood of St. George, the main attraction was that new baby boy. Sara Shurtz was home from BYU. Beth and Jan Liston, Lola Alvey and son came Thursday, Harvey and Eva-dean Liston and Jim Alvey came Friday when the fellows got off work. Jim had a new pickup, he and family stayed with me so it was a pleasant break from so much quiet. Dee and Violet Moosman visited at the DeRay Porters. The Marvin Mounteers had Marva home, LaRue Spencer had Ronald and family. Dawn and Bill Griffin had Randy, Evan and Nickle Excell and family. The Lovell Twltchells had Beth and Rotis Coleman of Richfield, Curtlss and Denise Larson of Salt Lake City and families. We have several ladies working at the sewing plant in Hen-rievllle: Leda Pratt, Laretta Shaw, Janene and Christine Alvey, Hazel Griffin and Laretta Shurtz. Darrell, Irene and Tony Alvey had birthday anniversaries; Irene and Tony had parties but Darrell Just had flu. Vergean Porter has a new truck and Lynn Liston a new car. The Porters had Vergean-la and Darrill Davenport from Kayenta, Arizona here for the weekend. Rol and Mina Porter had son Haws, his daughter Ruscene and Anna Tucker here. Haws Is a grandpa and proud as can be. Glyn and wife have a baby boy. Arnold and Leah Button took son Wayne to Salt Lake City to enter the mission home. Ott and Hilda Roundy spent the weekend in Monroe. Michelle Foster came here to celebrate her birthday anniversary a?-aln, this time with a partv. Bob Mitchell and Gordon Staker went to Kanab to attend a meeting pertaining to their Jobs. The Ira Rustons and the La Vcrn Griffins had business in Pangultch. LaVern and Mary Joined Doug and Barbara Haycock for a trip to Phoenix, Stan and Ne-ta kept the Haycock kids so they had free wheeling. They talked to Wayne and lone Bar-yne is anxious to get home but said they all looked good. Wa-nye is anxious to get home but when Mary told him the mud was knee deep here he decided to stay awhile longer. Ann Munson Joined the James Muii-sons of Tropic for a trip to vis-It relatives. Lynn and Mildred Gates had daughter Terry home. The Blako Robinsons had Blake D. and family from Salt Lake and the Mate Baughs of Tropic. Daniel and Orilla Co-weles got word that daughter Twila Michelangelo in Calif, had major surgery, really three operations in one so we were all anxious to hear from her, she wrote a little saying she was weak but getting along fine. Forest and Ruth Alvey went to Richfield to visit her brother but he had gone to Salt Lake City, so they followed him on up, Forest figured he had been tricked. LaDell Alvey is working in this area this week. Mack and Jo Barney and family of Cedar City spent the weekend at the Berlin Osborn home. Clema and Roe Barney and family of Page were at the Jane Woolsey home. Shirley Marsh had her parents, Max and Evelyn Heap of Cedar City here, they came in a new pickup and Shirley said Sharon Dale was jealous, they parked right by his old one. Ronald and Linda Mecham and family of Las Vegas spent the weekend at the Starns Mecham home, the Malen Mechams of Tropic visited here Saturday. Mabel Griffin was home for the weekend, so was Festos. The college kids we noticed home were Helen Alvey, Evelyn Lyman, Christine and Dick Droubay, Mark and Peggy Griffin, Marlyn and Kay Lynn Shurtz. Gloria and LaMar Grade and girls spent the weekend at the Theron Mitchell home, Marion and Peggy Spencer and daughter at the Verge Spencer home. Dale Marsh went to Cedar City for a meeting. Irene Alvey and Brent Cottam went to Pangultch for a meeting about the Youth Conference. The Valentine Day party for the Young at Heart was well attended and a grat success; Joyce O'Neall was in charge, Billie and Minnie Davis acted as host and hostess. Dr. Seal told about the Media Center, Berlin Osborn read the introduction to the film which was taken in 47 with mostly local actors. They have aged considerably and of course some are no longer with us. Gary and Cindy Fontain sang two numbers, I read a poem, and Mrs. Gcdon Staker read a pioneer letter, refreshments were serv ed. Bill and Sharon Francisco and boys came from Cedar City for the weekend. Linda and Barry Bornson spent the weekend at Junction with his folks. DeLane and Leah Griffin went to St. George with John Palmer. We had John's testimonial here in the South ward Sunday, the North ward and some of Cannonvllle joined us. He is going to the Oregon mission. He brought his roommate Grant Conoquech, a young Hawaiian fellow, who talked, Donene Liston and Patrice Griffin played an oigan and piano duet, John talked then sang with 3 of his cousins Coleen, Reta and Rachel, Berlin Osborn talked, and benediction was by Francis Hughes. Elwood -nd Vaun-da Willis came from Richfield for the weekend at the Ivan Willis home and took Hortense Munson home with them. George Washington Is famous for having never told a lie, he never filed an Income tax, could that be the reason why? |
