Impressive e no matter how bow howman man many of the spectacular elements element Presidential whIch have characterized past post Pres- Pres Pr s- s Inaugurations may be discarded because of the demand of the present times for economy In all things For whether the ceremony Is simple or elaborate orate and whether the weather Is fair or stormy and It has become almost a tradition that Its It's dayIs pretty likely to be he stormy Inauguration day Is a red-letter red day for the nation and ond as os as many of our citizens who can go to the National Capital to take part In It and usually do their best to make the most of that day Inauguration There has been a sameness to all tion day ceremonies and yet there has hns always been some new nen element to make moke each ench one dif dlf- willbe ferent different Undoubtedly this years year's ceremony will vIII be different from the last three In that It will wll witness thousands of jubilant Democrats flock flock- flockIng lag Ing to Washington to celebrate the fact that they are the Ins after lon long years of being Cleveland the outs just as they did when Grover Gro Cleve Cleve- land and Woodrow Wilson were Inaugurated But the Washington was held neither In the city of Washington which did not then exist nor on the traditional March 4 Instead It took place In New York city which was then the capital of the nation on April 30 1789 1780 In the case of the first President there thero was an In Inaugural augural parade which preceded the tha Inauguration ceremony Instead of following It as became the custom from the time of Andrew Jackson on down through the years The actual Inauguration took place on a stage whIch had been built on the steps of the fed fed- federal federa eral building where the present building In
