Show Pag 8 Manti Massangar, Thursday, March 19, 1987 Brent Peterson receives Manti Senior Citizens News Eagle Scout Award Public Notices BY ERMA OLSEN Brent Peterson, 13, member of Troop 542 Manti, Utah, was presented his Eagle Scout award on Saturday, February 14, 1987. Brent earned 26 merit badges while achieving this award. The Eagle Award for his accomplishments was presented to him at a special Court of Honor, held in conjunction with the Scout Banquet in the Manti First Ward. Fpr his Eagle Scout service project, Brent planned, organized and painted the interior of the Sanpete County food concession building located at the Sanpete County fairgrounds. Several scouts from his troop helped with the painting. His project was completed in June of 1986. Albers Yellow Corn Meal Toni Truitt, Jamie Myrup, Nicki David Carr and Jared Howe, Simonsen are the five winners of the Deseret News Spelling Bee held in the Manti Elementary School. They won over 40 contestants who had p.m. contestants in the district competition were the five top spellers in each of the district schools, Manti Elementary, Ephraim Middle Elementary, Ephraim School, Gunnison High and Gunnison Elementary. The age limit is eighth grade. A winner will be selected to represent South Sanpete at the state level. The winner of the state spelling bee will compete in the national spelling bee at Washington, The been previously selected by spelling bees in each of the classes in the fourth and fifth grades.
