Vernal An Environmental Assessment As-sessment has been completed com-pleted and is available for public review regarding a proposal to harvest timber tim-ber adjacent to the Deer-lodge Deer-lodge Summer Home Area, Vcmal Ranger District, Dis-trict, Ashley National Forest. This proposal would remove an estimated esti-mated 35 acres of primarily primar-ily dead standing timber adjacent to and surrounding surround-ing the Decrlodge Summer Sum-mer Home Area in order to provide a fuelbreak for the purpose of fire protection pro-tection and to improve the visual quality of the immediate area. The Forest Service preferred pre-ferred alternative is to remove re-move the dead trees through a timber sale contract as a cost-efficient means to establish the fuelbreak. The Forest Service is inviting public comment on the analysis, the preferred alternative and Finding of No Significant Signif-icant Impact for a 30 day period. Comments received re-ceived will be considered in reaching a decision on this proposed action and will be addressed in the Decision Notice.
