The Salt Lake Section, American Ameri-can Chemical Society, will honor one - time University professor, Dr. Emil L. Smith, at its annual award banquet, Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the University Union. Although Dr. Smith is now professor and chairman of the department of biological chemistry chem-istry at the School of Medicine, Medi-cine, U.C.L.A., he was on the University College of Medicine Faculty for 17 years. He began in 1946 as associate professor of biochemistry and associate research professor of medicine. He gained full professor profes-sor status at the University in 1950. He is now a members of the National Academy of Sciences, American Chemical Society and other professional organizations and has served on advisory committees com-mittees for National Institute of Hhealth, American Cancer Society Soci-ety and others. Dr. Smith, the author and coauthor co-author of more than 200 publications, publi-cations, will be principal speaker speak-er at the award dinner. |
