' MHS student Council schedule and discussed our part in it. We then made assignments for Homecoming. For floats we assigned Scott Robins, Frosh; Paula Coats. Soph.; Don Beckstrand. Juniors; Kevin Kesler, Seniors; Duane George and Christine Whatakcr. royalty. Dr. Reid suggested wc invite others from this area and maybe our game opponents to enter floats. M D Carnival Neighborhood Carnival Dystrophy will be held Sat.. Aug 23. 1975 at the Wildlife Park. Jeffrey Avcrett. son of Mr. and Mrs. DcLon Avcrett will .erve as Chairman, assisted by Margie and Cathy Wilson, Robbi and Brittani Avcrett. The Carnival, which begins at 3:30 p.m. will feature such games as treasure hunt, bean bag throw, fortune telling booth, duck and many more. All proceeds will go to aid the fight against dystrophy and related diseases afflicting millions. The children got the idea for staging their event while watching TV personality who is promoting Carnivals on his "Balderdash Hotel. childrens' show seen on station KCPX. The children were cspecial-linterested in this particular disease as there is a child in Fillmore who has Muscular Dy strophy. The group has been working all week to make a success ot the Carnival. Many of the Fillmore have merchants donated prizes for the event. Last vear. in cooperation with Muscular Dystrophy Associations of American, 42.239 Carnivals were held by children across the country. Over SI million was reaised for MDAA's research and patient service programs. A carnival was held in Fillmore two years ago with over $20 being sent to the Association. It will soon come to an end with the showing of a film to all who have done good reading. Children are urged to bring in their books and record the ones they have read. Annette Peterson is the lucky little girl who has had the most stories read to her in the program. Robert Muhlestcin heads the list for reading the most books himself. The boys groups demonstrated the various techniques learned through this second session. These were: life savdrill, six foot ing dive and rescue, front dive, racing dive, firemans rescue, pant inflation, buoy rescue and artificial respiration, rescue and artificial underrespiration, iJ ; water swim, removing street clothes in 20 seconds, etc. i In addition, the boys 1 cd their expertise in these strokes: side, breast, crawl, 4- back and butterfly.
