william 1 I callahan and daughter of henry and martha E parker born august 6 murton murion wisconsin in sister callahan was a devout and faith jul ful latter day saint beloved and greatly respected by all who know knew her a noble wife and an affectionate mother she leaves a husband and six small children and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn her loss loae the funeral f services were with him in his sad bereavement J E WILLIAM GOATES brother william goates who was born at wimple Cambridge shire england may 11 1817 was the son aon of james jame and ann Doci tery goates goatee he was baptized into the church of jesus christ of lat ter ler day dav 8 saints lots december 1840 by elder william tierce pierce and was confirmed a member of the church and ordained an elder thereof at the same time by said Willi william aln pierce aud and was wa sent to cam bridge to labor in the ministry y where he was au ui in raising up a brandh of the church over which he was appointed toted to preside said branch was w C of the bedford conference then t n a part by the earnest and untiring labors of elder goatee in cambridge cambridge shire hire afterwards became a conference brother goatee here left an influence which to this day is spoken of among his fellow laborers in terms of the highest praise he emigrated to utah with his family on the ship ellen maria leaving england feb 10 1852 arriving at aa new orleans after a passage ot of eight weeks and crossing the plains in president A 0 smoots Sua company arriving in salt lake city september ard 3rd 1852 and settling at lehi where he has uince since remained and has honorably filled the following offices viz president of the elders quorum orui in belore before U ab co wits was a stake of at zion on he was afterwards ordained a high priest and set apart as first counselor to lo bishop david evans evana and was e appointed to preside preside in the lehi lebi ranch branch of the high priests quorum he was elected a member of the lehi city council he has left a wife four sons two daughters thirty six grandchildren grand children and two great grandchildren grand children bro goates was a man ot of unblemished character his sterling hone honesty siy was was proverbial ver bial his faith undying and his sit con rol under trying ordeals astonishing his example was a living evidence of the truth of the gospel aud honored daughter of lang lev and elizabeth allgood Alle born july 4 18 1810 at burslem Bur slam staffordshire england she embraced the gospel in 1844 emigrated from whitwick leicestershire Leicester shire with her husband and children in 1856 crossed the ahe plains in edward martins hand handcart eart company enduring the hard ship and sufferings su which the company had to tin undergo dergo with much patience and forti fortitude ude reached salt lake city on nov bilth aoth ot of the same year aud and continued her IOU journey aney to nephi where she resided until the year 1860 she then moved to 10 moroni count county yand and remained there until her demis eShe presided over the relief society for over twenty yeara with dignity and honor the poor and the afflicted always found a true friend and a wise counselor in mol moi her bailey A lew jew hours before she passed away she bore a faithful testimony to the latter day gospel as taught by the prophet joseph smi b and encouraged all present to keep the faith A large aion ion of the relatives and sisters ot of the relief belief society followed the remains from the ibe house to the tabernacle which was beautifully beautiful lv decorated lor for the occasion om aaion the services were presided over by bishop irons four of the elders and two of the sisters bisters the laner at er her counselors in the relief society spoke of her honor virtue and faithfulness in the discharge of her duties she leaves three i sons also thirty grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren her husband preceded her four years ago she was beloved le vomiting some dome few weeks before he had bad a fall hurling buning him about the ear he seemed to be somewhat paralyzed and crawled on his hands and knees for ten or fifteen rods to reach the house he recovered so far fair as an to be able to do some so slie work until within two or three days day before his deaths death he was the son of alexander and margaret esplin his mot mothers herps m maiden torn don name was campbell he was born january 1 1829 1899 at Waro gardent War dent ent county of perth denb scotland while la in his teens he labored as an apprentice to james jack at ai tailoring on august 4 1849 he received baptism in the church of jesus christ of latter day saints by bv elder richard brown in the river ts i at dundee he was confirmed by elder hugh findlay in august 1850 he be sailed for great salt lake city in the ship north nonh atlantic under capt captain tain cook he arrived to his destination september 28 1851 he married margaret daughter of henry and ann webster 01 on may he was ardai u led ed a devent seventy Y and was a member of the pony forty ninth quorum at ai his death he be was a faithful faith lul member in the eighty fit h quorum of seventies in 1851 he moved to nephi juab county in 1861 he crossed the plains Plain sto to florence to emigrate some saints sainte september 28 1868 he was called on a mission to the muddy to raise cotton cottong tong and was called with the rest of the muddy saints to settle in long valley in i be year 1870 he was a faithful worker in the tho united order tor for over ten years and did all he could to help along the cause until it was broken up he was the father of thirteen childen chil ren had a goodly number of grandchildren and a host ot friends who feel to sympathize with his family in their
