Show Iranian outbursts accomplish nothing The outburst of chants and shouting at the William Colby lecture and the forum which followed in the Sunburst Lounge yesterday involved many irrate Iranian students protesting the American involvement with the Iranian government The negative feelings of the Iranian students may be cerjustified but their means of accomplishing a settlement not are tainly The problems with the Iranian government and the Shah of Iran are causing unrest across the world and the Iranian students have a right to express their feelings concerning these problems However when their excercise of this right are inbecomes discourteous immature and rude-thebecome their of others and on the rights rights fringing limited At yesterday's forum the Iranian students monopolized the period with extremely long questions and debates giving other students little chance to participate The forums are designated as sessions and should be respected as such Debates and unfounded accusations are not appreciated by the students or the honored speaker If the Iranian students want the sympathy of USU students their means are accomplishing exactly the contrary Students are becoming defensive and offended by the y question-and-answe- r question-and-answe- r protests The misbehavior and disrespect demonstrated yesterday will if anything alienate students Possibly if the protesting Iranians would create new ways of gaining support respect American courtesies and excercise their freedom of speech responsibly their purpose would be supported Actions utilized yesterday however will accomplish nothing worthwhile for the Iranian government or the USU Iranian students Statesman commended work Thu end result howeer mded an asset to our cause To the editor On behalf of the si 1 would Jke to rvKLtiNe Counts!
