Y. U. Are Complimented At Reception Amanda Knight hall, B. Y. U. girls dormitory, was the scene of a charming function Thursday afternoon, after-noon, when the B. Y. U. Women's organization tendered ten-dered its annual reception for the freshmen girls and upper class girls who are on the campus for the first time. Three hundred and fifty guests were received, and, as an added treat, were shown through the attractive at-tractive building by girls who reside at the dorm. Baskets filled with 'massive dahlias and chry- santhemums graced tne nails, ana reception ana dining rooms. The serving" table was covered with an elegant ecru lace cloth, - and held a huge blue centerpiece of red berries and autumn leaves. Colored pottery dishes were used. The annual Brigham Young university girls' jamtoree was held Thursday evening: in the Women's 'gymnasium, under the direction of the Associated Women Wo-men Students' officers. The theme of the evening was "The Witches Wiggle" and was very cleverly carried -out in every detail. A "hair-raising" entrance was made into the gymnasium, directed di-rected by the decoration committee,- consisting of Marjorie Jensen, Jen-sen, Hallie Tangren, Martha Lu Tucker, Pat Croft, Gwen Poui-son, Poui-son, " Lucy Cannon, Rosamonde Sessions and- Marion Davis. Af-terputting Af-terputting a nickel in a slot machine, each girl followed a tingling' wire into the hail, past ghosts, dragons, and other such Hallowe'en horrors. - Marjorie Merrill, - Helen Ellison, Elli-son, Pearl Glissmeyer, Helen Seaman, Sea-man, Leith Hayes, and jean Webb led the girls in a broomstick broom-stick relay, a pumpkin "pass," and other games. Prizes' were awarded, for the most appropriate appropri-ate costume, the 'fastest". woman, wo-man, and,the. most .graceful broomstick rider. After a - reading; '.t,The 13tn Chair," by Lois Stanley, Mary McGregor led the girls in some Hallowe'en songs. The program committee was composed of Lucille Lu-cille Anderson and ; Nan Chip-man. Chip-man. ' ' Pixic3' punch, apples. and doughnuts were served under the direction of Ruth ,. Greenweii, Shirley Turnquist, Fern and Faye Ross, and Gwen Kimball; Francis Davis, A. W. Willett, president, was in charge and 135 school patrons pat-rons were in attendance. The time was turned over to Mrs. Kenneth Flygare, program chairman. Community Com-munity singing was led by. Mrs. Wanda Snow, after which the crowd enjoyed games, led by Mrs. Bee Eggertsen and Mrs. Geneve Bennett. The remainder of the time was spent in dancing, the music being-furnished being-furnished by a VPi orchestra Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Steedman were declared winners of the prize waltz. ' ' Refreshments were served from a table covered with a lovely lace cloth, and centered with a bowl of yellow chrysanthemums. Yellow tapers were on either side. Johnson at a sumpteous turkey dinner Thursday evening at their home on North University Univer-sity avenue. The dinner was served buffet stvle, and the table was covered with a highly-colored linen cloth. Colored : pottery was used and roses and chrysanthemums formed the centerpiece.
