Show SPORTING SPLINTERS There was a large attendance of the teams at the practice hal last night and the boys showed greater enthusiasm and determination than on any other evening the soldiers showed the result of their constant con-stant practice by the way they handle the hemp their anchor man is one of the best that ever gathered in hemp and his team kept him busy too The brawny Scots are adding to their laurels all the time and when tho tournament tourna-ment comes off no team will be nearer to the prize than they Mr Corn s American team are getting a move on em and promise big things The English and Canadian boys are looking with hopeful eyes on first place and the public may rest assured that the theatre tournament will bo one of the athletic events of the year After practice a meeting was held at 115 South Main street I was decided to place the management of the exhibition in the bands of an executive committee consisting con-sisting of P J Smith Charles Parker and William Robertson The following committee com-mittee was appointed to take charge of the finances McKmnon Riley and Parker The chairman and secretary are members exofflcio of both these committees Another meeting will be held Saturday evening at 730 over 115 South Main street All captains and members of teams are requested re-quested to be present Dnncan McDonald the wellknown middle weight who formerly resided in this city has retired from the ring and is now a prosperous Montana hotel keeper The fencing club thanks to toe efforts of such men as Mr McConville is in a flourishing flour-ishing condition and the members are all enthusiastic The wall of the club rooms are now adorned with photos of all the noted weilders of the broad sword and foil |
