Private advices from St Petersburg eay that great uneasiness prevails in court circles there over the escape oi the young rvua. Hiazintoff, who a couple of mosSia ago attempted to kill Privy Counselor Pwonoszeff When in prison, Hiazintoff's demeanor was so strange that he wa sent to an asylum for the insane and there kept under observation ob-servation night and day in special care. On June 27 he pleaded that the terribly hot weather was killing him, and in consequence ho was for the first time allowed to take exercise in the asylum grcmnds with the other inmates. On the same afternoon he managed to escape, es-cape, evidently with the connivance of Bomebody within tho asylum, and nothing noth-ing has since been heard of him. The uneasiness referred to is due to the belief that Hiazintoff will most certainly cer-tainly be heard from sooner or later in connection with some desperate deed. He is a militant nihilist, imbued with a fanatical belief in the necessity for Bhedding the blood of tyrants who stand in the way of the regeneration of his country, and he is utterly reckless cf hia own life. The police are confident that he will not attempt to leave Russia and are equally certain that he will not long remain idle.- London Cor New York Sua |
