Show THE LEADER. RIVERSIDE by Myrle Udy ATTEND OPERA Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Davis were in Logan Wednesday to attend the opera, "Hansel and Gretel," given by the Chansonettes of the college. Pauline Davis is a member of the chorus giving the performance. Mrs. Lena Tubbs and Mrs. Marian Hales accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nye to Ogden Tuesday to attend the funeral of a cousin, Victor J. Nye. While they were there they visited many friends and relatives during the day. Mrs. Clarice Hirschi and son Jerry, Mrs. Inez Johnson and Karen, Mrs. Mavis Johnson and children and Mrs. June Bow-cuand two daughters were in Ogden Wednesday. Karen received physical therapy. Mr. and Mrs. Delose Udy and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Udy left Monday for Detroit where they will pick up a new car and drive it home. They expect to be gone until the latter part of this week. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tubbs were in Tremonton Friday and Saturday Where they took care of their granddaughters while their parents, Mr. and Mrs. 'Arnold Whittaker were in Salt Lake City. Friday, Ed Udy accompanied Oleen Udy to Rock Springs, Wyoming. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ward and two daughters of Salt Lake City spent the weekend with tt , friend Pete Tolman PENROSE LOCAL STUDENTS IN COLLEGE OPERA Mrs. Leonard Four Bear River high school graduates participated in opera presentations at the Utah State Agricultural College last week. June Rohde and Pauline Davis, both members of the Chansonettes, took parts in the one act opera, "Hansel and Gretel." and Dennis E. Simmons sang a major role in Gianna Schocchi, and Norwood Fridal was a member of the chorus. Mr. and Mrs. Art Ward, parents of Paul. Mrs. Clarice Hirschi, Inez Johnson, Irene Foreberg, Cleo Forsberg. June Eowcutt and Myrle Udy were in Logan Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ogden and family of Salt Lake City spent the weekend at the home of Deloss Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. parents of Mrs. Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Austin Udy and daughter Doris spent 'Saturday in Salt Lake City where Doris had her eyes examined. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Udy and daughters were in Plymouth Sunday where the family of Mrs. Ida Steed, mother of Mrs. Udy, had a dinner in honor of Mrs. Steed's birthday. r Bishop and Mrs. Leland went to Salt Lake City Monday where they will remain for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hadfield and daughter, Doris Roche and children were Salt Lake City visitors Monday. Mrs. Jesse Davis accompanied Mrs. James Bigler to Ogden Friday. Cap-ene- Peterson FAMILY GATHERS FOR UNPLANNED REUNION The Jack Leak home was a busy place Sunday when relatives came from Kearns, and Brigham for an unplanned family The visitors included Mr. and Mrs. Bud Petersen and family of Kearns, Mr. and Mrs. Elis Petersen of Brigham and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Petersen who came for their daughter, Cheryl who has been visiting the past week with the Leaks. From Centerville were Jack's sister, Donna Houlding who returned recently from an LDS Mission in Hawaii and Mr. and Mrs. Orval Leak and son and a Cent-ervill- e Beet Men Urged To Release Unused Acreage The Sugar Beet Advisory Committee have alloted all of the 7036 acres of beets allocated to Box Elder County growers delivering beets to the Garland Factory. It is anticipated that some growers may not be able to use all of their proportionate share (allotment). These growers are urgently requested to release the acres they do not intend to plant immediately to the ASC County Office in Tremonton, so they can be reallocated to growers who would like more beets. Released acres will be reallocated by the Sugar Beet Advisory Committee on March 15, April 1, April 15, and May 2, 1955. It will be to everyones advantage to have the full 7036 acres planted in the county, so please release your excess acres as soon as you determine you cannot use them and those wanting more beets must have their requests in prior to the above mentioned dates. Growers whohave already applied for more beets at 'the ASC Office or with the Sugar Company fieldmen will not need to reapply. MRS. MARY PETERSEN BURNED IN ACCIDENT Mrs. Mary Peterson of El-wo- was painfully burned Friday evening. She was using a pressure cooker at her home, preparing potatoes for the Ward reunion. Mrs. Petersen thought all the steam was out of the cooker, when she opened the lid, but escaping steam burned her about the face and neck. She is reported to be improving at the Valley hospital, where she is receiving treatment for first degree burns. His son Leon came home from the B.Y.U. in Provo to spend the weekend and his daughter Doris and husband Newel Johnson and children of Ogden spent the day with him Sunday. The Johnson baby was named in meeting Sunday. Gene Jensen celebrated his 16th birthday anniversary with! a family dinner and a visit to the Stake Patriarch. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Orsen Jen-sen. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Miller went to Ogden Friday where they met their daughters, Merle Eskelson and Lois Miller of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Miller's sister, Alberta and husband, of Lovelock, Nev., and all had dinner together. Officers Entertained A party for the outgoing Penrose Primary officers was held Thursday evening at the home of the president, Hazel Stokes. The hostess served an oyster supper with all the trimmings and presented each of her officers with a gift. Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Holt visited in Ogden Sunday with LaRee Whitney. Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Bying-towere dinner guests at the Mervin Holt home Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Smith and twin sons were Salt Lake City visitors Monday. They had din ner with Mrs. Wanda Palmer and Mrs. Marie Winther. Reggy Petersen had birthday dinner with his little cousin, Leonard M. Petersen at the home of Leonard's parents. The boys share the same birthday. Reggy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse F. Petersen. Myrna Petersen, student of Henager's in Salt Lake City spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Petersen. Mrs. Josephine Nelson and son Darwin visited with Mr. and Mrs. George Hewitt and family in Clearfield and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Clough in Sandy Sunday. Mrs. Joseph Egley enjoyed a few days visit this week with her mother, Mrs. Ray South from Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Miller and children of Provo spent the weekend with Mr. Miller's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George L. Miller. Their small daughter was blessed and named Sherly Roberta by her grandfather, Clarence Jorgensen at the 6th Ward in Brigham Sunday. .
