Show SWEPT BY A FLOOD washington ashington W mining camp sadly dam aged by water the town of wilkeson wash was swept by high water monday A jam of logs and driftwood formed in the creek and an angry torrent was turned through the streets of the town leav ing great trees eighty feet long and four or five feet in diameter on the main thoroughfare of the mining vil lage A wall of water came down the mountain about 7 0 clock in the morn ing carrying everything before it the miners on the day shift had not yet gone to work in the mines or there mua have been loss of life As it was the water Is said to have flooded the tunnel of the mine for halt half a mile or more and it is expected much time will be required to pump it out sev eral buildings near the bank of the stream were ere moved from their dounda lions about 1200 1 feet of track is gone near crocker |
