East Carbon A the Superintendent leeway election has been released by the superintendent of the Carbon county school district. The upper bracket received a substantial raise of $400. But this wasnt the group that worried the superintendent during the time that he was asking the voters for the additional money. The beginners, and those low down in the salary bracket, were the ones that could not be persuaded to come to Carbon. Even those teachers whose homes were here went elsewhere. Reason, not enough money. The job was too competitive. What happened to the boys and girls at the very bottom? Those just coming into the profession with a degree? They received $200. Those with 135 hours college credit; 90 hours, 45 hours or less nb raise at all. It also looks like he wants the boys in the fifth year bracket to look for employment elsewhere. Apparently they received only $150 from the leeway. Those in the four and' six year bracket will get $175 per year from leeway. This isht the executive way to solve problems. If you have a problem and the money to solve that problem solve it and get it out of the way. Clinite A double observance of their golden wedding anniversary was attended by the many friends of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Clinite, parents of Mrs. James Oassano of Dragerton this past month. On Tuesday, May 1 friends in Salida, Colorado, where they have lived much of their lives, gathered to honor the Clinites in a beautifully appointed reception. Married 50 years on May 3, 1906, at nearby Poncha Springs, they recall her pioneer parents who came to that vicinity by covered wagon in the 1870s. Immediately following the celebration Jn Salida, they traveled some 360 miles to Carbon county to be house guests of their daughter and family, the James Cassanos of Dragerton. The second observance of the occasion was attended by many of their warm admirers whom they have cultivated through the past 20 years as guests of their daughter in various localities within Carbon county. Op Saturday, May 5, open house at the Cassano home was announced from 2 oclock until 10 p.m. The golden wedding motif prevailed throughout the rooms as the many guests arrived. A floral piece of golden carnations and red tulips graced one corner of the room near the buffet table which was spread with a lovely lace d cloth. Two white tapers burned on either side of the gold-etche- wedding cake, also golden iced apd topped with miniature bride and groom. Friends were invited to sign the gold moire satin guest book as they presented their numerous gifts wrapped in varying golden themes. Oldest couple to sign the book was Mr. and Mrs. Frank Deuel of Columbia, Utah, married 62 years. As they lingered to present their well wishes and renew warm memories the guests served themselves from a bountiful buffet table of roast turkey, baked ham, potato salad which was served in an heirloom cut glass bowl given as a wedding gift 50 years earlier to the bride by her grandmother, and now. the proud possession of three-tie- r her daughter, Wanda Clinite Cassano.
