A lovely surrounding and promises of a tremendous "Boss Night" were kept by all concerned! A festive evening was enjoyed, including a social hour, dinner and speeches. President Jedda Moss welcomed the members and their bosses. Betty Roberts offered the invocation and Salute to the Flag. Marsha Chappell, Boss Night Chairman greeted the bosses with some special readings before dinner. Following the excellent dinner, Dallas Featherstone, Program Chairman gave a vocational talk concerning her employment and her boss. The "Woman of the Year Award" was presented to Mrs. Lola Jordan, teacher at Glendale Elementary Shcool by Elaine Mitchell, Women of the Year Committee Chairman. Lola is a very deserving individual She excells in the many projects she has with the educational field and other duties, including her affiliation with Bonneville Chapter. This year she is Bulletin Chairman and a very successful Spring Tea Chairman. Lola does what she is asked to do very pleasantly and willing offers to go the extra mile with her many talents. Featured speaker for the evening was Mr. John McNamara, Utah State Administrator of Juvenile Courts. He explained how the Juvenile Courts have a responsibility to the general public. But, first and foremost the general public has a responsibility to the Juvenile Courts to help them minimize the problems of the young adults in our many homes and community. He explained how each civic minded person may help the courts with the young adults by the many services they can offer. Mrs. McNamara also honored the gathering by her charming presence. The tremendous evening then came to the long awaited decision of which boss was the extra special one for the grand night. The ladies turned in resume's with their bosses' qualifications. The resumes were then given to outside judges and the boss of the night was returned in a sealed envelope. Marsha Chappell opened the envelope, and the name... Mr. Charles H. Dredge. With excitement running high, Mr. Dredge was asked for a response. He was completely overwhelmed and very graciously accepted his "Boss of the Year" trophy. Mr. Dredge is President and General Manager of C H. Dredge Co., Inc., Syracuse, Utah. He resides in Kaysville with his lovely wife, Beth and four children. The business has been conducted in Syracuse for several years with a branch market in Salt Lake City. The company grows and ships from Syracuse several hundred acres of potatoes and onions each year. They have 35 regular employees with larger groups employed during harvest. Some of his other interests are C.H. Dredge Investment Co., Inc., Clover Club Foods, Barnes Bank, Board of Directors of Box Elder County Bank in Brigham City and numerous County Blubs. He has also served two terms as Mayor of Kaysville. "Mr. Dredge has had the same cheery 'Good Morning' every day of the week for the five years Betty Roberts has worked for him and he is deeply concerned about the welfare of each one of his employees and their families. Recently when one of his employees lost their furniture in a fire, he was the first one with a sezeable contribution to help replace their belongings. Maybe the following story can help explain this fine man: recently, Betty ran into a friend she hadn't seen in quite a while. He asked where she was working and when she told him, he replied, "You must have a fantastic job. That Mr. Dredge doesn't have an enemy in the world." The above was taken from the resume of Betty Roberts. CONGRATULATIONS-Bo- ss of the Year, Mr. C.H.
