Show 'I Deaths and Funerals JONES Mrs. Elizabeth Shaw Jones J H died at 4:15 o'clock yesterday after- noon at the reisdence of her daughter, i Mrs. C. A. Peterson. Death was due H to a parlytlc stroke, following a one day's illness. Mrs. Jones was born in ? H Strambrough, England, May 23, 1837, j? the daughter of Paul and Ellen Fletch- ! er Shaw. She was converted to the 'H doctrines of Mormonism and emigrat- ed to Utah In 1857, crossing the plains with a hand-cart party. The first year following her arrival in Utah, she lived ; at Kaysville and the next year she, was i married to William P. Jones. 'The 1 young couple lived for a time In Kays- 1 ville and then moved to Wilson. Later , they moved to South Weber, where 2 the deceased resided until six years : ago. At that time, she came to Ogden and had since lived with her daughter. i Her husband died at South Weber, In J 1891. During her years of life in Utah, j Mrs. Jones was an active church work- er, a loving mother and a good neigh- jj j bor and many persons will mourn her J loss. She Is survived by the follow- J ( ing children: T. X.. Jones, Sterling, j? , Idaho; Mrs. C. A. Peterson and Mrs. 3 Mary A. Herrick, Ogden; J. F. Jones, j South Weber; John P. Jones, Logan; , Mrs. Rebecca Whlttler, and Mrs. Cyn- t 1 thia C. Carrigan Peterson and R. J. ' Jones, Sterling, Idaho. One sister. ,j Mrs. Ann Ray of South Weber, 37 : grandchildren and 16 great-grandchil- l ' dren also survive. The funeral an- I ' nouncements will be made later. BROWN. The funeral of Mrs. Har- i riet Hart Brown wa3 held yesterday X afternoon in the Fifth ward chapel, ; with Bishop J. W. Ure presiding. j Friends and relatives of tho deceased, among the former being the members of the Fifth ward Relief society, filled the chapel to Its capacity and many floral tributes were placed upon her bier. President John Watson, Pa-triach Pa-triach G. W. Larkln, Thomas A. ! Shreeve, Bishop W. O. Ridges and Bishop Ure were the speakers at the service and each one told of the sterling qualities possessed by Mrs. Brown In life and of her faithfulness to her religion. Special music was furnished as follows: "There is a Land' Mrs. Mary Farley; "Some Sweet Day," Mrs. Farley and Mrs. Maude F. Lloyd; "Flee as a Bird," Walter Stephens, and "A Perfect Day," Miss Vera Jones. Interment was in the city cemetery, the grave being dedicated by J. M D. Taylor. HARRIS. Funeral services for Wil-lard Wil-lard Harris will be held tomorrow at 1 p. m., In the East Layton meet- 1 1 111 K - In the Kaysville cemetery. James Wall, aged 7 years, H died at the Martha Society home at H 2 a. m. today of pneumonia. Tho body H was taken to the Larkin chapel pond- H Ing funeral arrangements. H ANDERSON Arthur Carl Anderson, H decorator and artist died of Brlght's H disease this morning at 8:55 o'clock at the family home, 2532 Polk avenue. He had been ill for the past two H months. Mr. Anderson was born on July 1?, 1SS0 in the Sandwich Islands, H where his parents Gunda Ezanson and 1 Carl Anderson were doing missionary H work. Ho was married to Esther Will- H lams March, 1901, in Ogden. His wife H and the following children survive: H Arthur Carl, jr.. Horace Williams, H Frances Ray and Mildred Ruth; also H the following sister and brother: Mrs. H Emma Jones of Ogden, Mrs. Lillian H ShurtlefT, Miss Peatl Anderson, Mrs. H Florence Knight and Clarence W. H Anderson of Salt Lake. Remains are H at the Lindquist chapel pending fun- H eral arrangements. 1 |
