Health District needs support Dear Editor: We went to the hospital meeting last Tuesday night, and felt good about it. I know it has really been an uphill battle for our health board and the employees at the hospital. But a little time and encouragement are working everything out. There seems to be a few that are fighting everyone in leadership. But most of the people want to help and encourage the people that are struggling so hard to keep our county hospital going. Sometimes we have a habit of not seeing the good that is being done. Thank you, health board -Cleal Bradford and all staff at hospital and commissioners, for everything you are doing. Vernon & Nila Schafer last person to lose their life on Utahs Highway 6, road of death. It makes me angry to read statements by so-call- ed our elected representatives that some day we will get our turn but need to wait while the priorities take precedence over the upgrading and replacement of the most dangerous highway in the state. A highway patrol officer quoted in the article may be correct that driver error causes most of the accidents in the canyon. However, that statement is true in most accident situations. It is doubly correct that SR6 constricts traffic and does not provide adequate places to pass. Enough is enough! How many more years and how many more lives of our loved ones, friends, neighbors and visitors are lost before the problem highway is corrected. The lives lost from our com- munities are great assets taken from us. As I sat in the audience of Trevors funeral and saw how hearts had been broken I wanted to help. I am sure others felt the same. I know we cannot prevent all accidents, but as studies of the Utah Department of Transportation show, SR6 from Price to Spanish Fork is a death trap. Concerned about Highway 6 Dear Editor: A recent Emery County Progress front page headline was Emery County Man killed on Highway 6. It took me back as. I reflected almost 30 years ago when the head- line read Ferron womans life taken on Highway 6." Sadly, tragically my mother was not the first person and Trevor Tuttle will not be the The governor and legislature are well aware of the situation, but in my opinion, willingly neglect the safety of its citizens and state visitors who must drive the road in favor of elaborate construction projects on the Wasatch front. If we can collect thousands of signatures, maybe we can make a statement that we residents of Southeastern Utah do not intend to set back any longer. The governor plans to visit eastern Utah next week. We will be prepared to meet him 568 November at the MOVIES! 7:00 pm sf Capitol for a day? Its more like Capital Punishment! Letters To Monday Saturday Friday with a statement that he can not miss. We are planning picket lines on the canyon road that he and his cabinet on their bus must pass. Picketing will be people that have lost loved ones, neighbors and friends. We will not accept his statement reported by the Spanish Fork Press that he turned a deaf ear to improving Highway 6. We cannot ac- cept that death ear any longer, we must let him know Public Meeting EXPRESS YOUR VIEWS ON THE GOLF COURSE EXPANSION how we feel. If you know someone that was killed on SR6 in the last 50 years please send me their name. I will construct a list to be attached to the petition.
