Show i BOSTON CON MEETING Second Annual in LondonMuch t I Development Work Done At the second annual meeting of the Boston Consolidated Copper and Gold Mining company limited held in London Lon-don the 20th of the present month the report submitted showed that the amount expended upon its development of the property which Included office and general expenses for the year enfl I Jng September 30th less the amount realized from ore sales was 4863C On the companys territory at Bingham Bing-ham during the year a as amount of development work including 2S11 feet of tunnels drifts and crosscuts has been accomplished The management slates that better results have been obtained from tests made by the companys milling department depart-ment than those obtained by Mr Edison Edi-son and others The erection of a concentrating mill has been postponed for the present as the necessities for erecting tic near future a smelter for the treatment of its sulphide ores already developed t Ism is-m Mr ewhouse states that until recently re-cently very little sulphide ore was encountered en-countered but now a considerable quantity of that class of ore has been disclosed which with depth is expected to appear In larger quantities of higher1 grade In this respect he says the development of the mine follows closely close-ly the experience of the Highland Boy mine the Utah Consolidated In the opening of sulphide bodies And the fact that the percentage J of copper 1 sl Increasing in this ore leads to Urn conclusion con-clusion that chutes of the size and value of those in the Highland Boy will result from the exploration thai will be made If these expected developments devel-opments < < should occur expenditures should be made he thinks in the erection erec-tion of a smelter to treat the ore instead in-stead of building concentrating mills for treating only the lowgrade ores Sam Gilson After Coal Price Utah Dec 24Acter an absence ab-sence of many months from there parts Slim Gllson who first discovered discov-ered the gllsonite beds of eastern Utah and who has blazed more trails aa a prospector perhaps than any other man in Utah lias again appeared upon the scene Mr Gllson has coal Instincts at this time and he has stated to friends that he will make numerous locations In Carbon county chIefly In what is known as Coal canyon can-yon some twenty miles east and north I of the town of Price and also In a locality eight miles north of here and not far from the Aberdeen and other promising coal properties He will Interfere he has said with no other mans rights nor will he molest mo-lest in the least the locations already made even If I the claimants have not complied strictly with the letter of the law lie Is believed to be representing outside talent with plenty of money behind be-hind him and when such properties Iw I as are wanted arc of record an Important Impor-tant announcement is to be made The general opinion is that another big company is to begin operations In thIs field as a competitor to the Pleasant I Pleas-ant Valley people who have In the past controlled the coal situation in this section of the State and which controls fiveeighths of the market of Salt Lake City Some important surveys are being be-ing made to the north of Price which lends color to the rumors of a big deal brewing Galena Is Encouraging Harry Joseph who with Charles Gilman Gil-man and I Morris directors of the Galena I Ga-lena at Fish Springs has been examining exam-ining the companys properties the past week has returned to Salt Lake Mr Joseph states that the mine is looking look-Ing more encouraging than for a longtime long-time and It Is hoped that something substantial will soon be opened Tie also viBltcd qie Utah which Is looking especially espe-cially well and turning out some exceedingly ex-ceedingly high grade ore The people of Fish Springs are anxiously awaiting the building of the new railroad hop Ing that it will come their way Antelope Island Properties C A Nicholson of Lincoln III who with other parties In his town hae a group of twelve claims on the northern portion of Antelope Island returned from an examination of the properties last night A contract for the necessary neces-sary assessment work which will be prosecuted through the winter months L1 hns just been let Mr Nicholson states that the beau ty of his holdings Is thickly studded I with claim stakes but that the work no far done has been of a superficial character Light copper stains are the only mineral Indications so far disclosed dis-closed and he is not confident of extensive exten-sive work being done or of substantial resiiltK being obtained in the near fu ture In driving from the island the deepest water enoountoied was about two foci and Jleflning company and Messrs M Guggenheims Sons It was stated as an assured fact that such I a contract would be1 passed on ala meeting of the directors of the American Ameri-can 1 company held on Tuesday of this week As Is often the case Wall street did not prove a true prophet and no such action was taken though It was decided to call a speclnr meeting of the stockholders In January to authorize an increase of the capital stork of the company to 100000000 part of this being be-ing presumably for the purchase of the Guggenheimplants The fact la as we have hcrcloforo noted that the question ques-tion of acquiring the Guggenheim plants has been more or less discussed ever since the organization of the Amcrlpan Smelting and Refining company com-pany but no definite result has been reached The two concerns are not antagonizing an-tagonizing each other In any sense but t for various reasons the members of the Guggenheim have preferred to ro main Independent Mining Notes
