Wednesday, August 22, 1984 reunion brings; back By KAYE HARRIS Staff wrifer EAST CARBON - The 1974 graduating class of East Carbon High School held its class reunion last Saturday at the Sunnyside Park. Among the graduates and earlier class members coming back to meet with old friends were carpenters, seamstresses, an artist, miners, an. accountant, a computer controller and the current Mrs. Utah, Pat 10-ye- ar Gagon Miner. Mrs. Miner, who was named Mrs. Utah last November, spent her growing up years in East Carbon and Dragerton. Until her sophomore year she was active at the high school, involved with cheerleading and many other activities. Between her sophomore and Pat Gagon Miner New dean appointed College of Eastern Utah President James. R. Randolph has announced the appointment of Leila Kay Menzies as the colleges dean of finance and administrative services. Ms. Menzies received her B.A. from UCLA and her MBA in management and statistics from California State Univer- - sity at Davis. Ms. Menzies has worked as a business manager and director of housing at USC, auxiliaries manager at UCLA and director of budget and operations at the University of Cincinnati. In her position at CEU, Ms. Menzies will be the administrator in charge of the colleges business office (ac- vice-direct-or TierraGene,3. J Mrs. Miner was a high honor graduate from BYU where she received degrees in education, psychology and arts. She has taught elementary school and is currently teaching college at UTC. She is also (he cheerleading advisor. Touring the west with a newly formed group featuring Bob Englman, a former Letterman, points. The Mrs. Utah Pageant, the Miss pageants, doesnt have a talent competition, Mrs. Miner said. The reason being the Miss pageants are idealistic. The Mrs. pageants are realistic. The Mrs. pageants are not what you are going to do with your life, but what you have already done with your life, she said. unlike Mrs. Miner competed in the Mrs. America Pageant held in Nevada earlier in the year. She will give up the Mrs. Utah crown on Nov. 3 in the Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Miner is accomplished in many areas of her life. Success is a constant adventure, she believes.
