Show CARBON-EMERY FAIR ' H A COMPLETE SUCCESS I Exhibits of All Kinds Plentifully Displayed From Both Counties Large Crowds In H Attendance Everyone Is Well Satisfied.' ; H The Cnrbon-Hmery fair opened under un-der the most nusplclou clrcumalnnces last Tuesday. The weather man could not have been more nuisldernte. for although the day Ma somewhat warm yet there was n gentlo breeto that partially tempered the rny of Old Hoi. Nor did thl hrcesc, ns Its usual custom. Increase In velocity so ns to mar the day's festivities. larly Monday afternoon a perfect stream of wagons, buggies, nutonlo-bile, nutonlo-bile, nnd even Ford machines, began to rlso out of the south. They wero filled with proud paterfamilias with their buxom wives, pretty daughters, sturdy son nnd happy prattling babies. ba-bies. In many cane these same rtiir-dy rtiir-dy son proudly drove their own chnr-lot. chnr-lot. horse drawn or gas driven, nnd were uccompnnled by mid daughter whose eyes sparkled nnd danced with joyful anticipation of the week' fair nnd enjoyment and whose cheek were mantled with blushes a they slyly glanced up nt their stalwart escorts. 1'erhaps, however, the largest delegation dele-gation of visitors on the opening dny wh? from Castle (late, nnd with It came the camp' bnnd of fifteen pleces,.dressed in nntty nnd smnrt uniforms uni-forms of mnrnon with hhiuk facings and wearing neat white forage" Caps. This organisation, which Is tn be con. grntulated on It proficiency, was ted l,v fl. 11. It,,, mill frnm Ihi Hum II first parmied on Mnln street nt nbout 9 o'clock until the close of the first day's program the rendition of It vnrlou number was much enjoyed by the visitors down town mid nt the ground. At a very early hour those In charge of departments were busy nt work, sorting, cheeking nnd ticketing the different exhibits. To the uninitiated this Is a tedious and arduous tnsk nnd from the rnpld mnnner In which the vnrlniiH supervisors redufed the multifarious mul-tifarious assortment of exhibit from n seeming chaos to well ordered displays dis-plays reflects great credit on them. The delay In getting all the exhibits Into proper shape and displaying them to most advantage was, no doubt, dun to the unexpected setting forward of tho date of the fulr. Kocond Dny it Ilnunrr One, Wednesday, the second day, was the banner one of the fair. The crowds came early nnd In the forenoon the exhibits In the building nnd the live stock show was visited by nearly five hundred "people. On this day the Judges were busy awarding prlies nnd It was well on toward dark when their arduous task was finished. Tho weather also was bright and although warm, sometimes oppressively so, there was no wind, and the dust wus not stirred up to mako It uncomfort able. In the nfternoon no Immense throng gathered at the ball grounds to witness the game between Mohr-land Mohr-land and Castle Date, the flight of the neroplune nnd the races, mention of which Is made In other columns of thl Impression. The Price band, under un-der the leadership of Arnold Ilergener. discoursed some fine numbers nnd helped tn keep the crowd in constnnt good humor. Home were disappointed disappoint-ed ut the postponing of the flight until un-til nftr the ball gume, but were amply am-ply compensated for their wait by the magnificent performance of tho aviator avi-ator which took place at a few minutes min-utes after i o'clook. Thu duyB sports were hugely enjoyed en-joyed on Wednesday by the large number of boys und girls who were freed frnm their school duties by the schools closing dawn for the entire day. Tho high school boys and girl were much In evidence ns they, too, were granted a half holiday on Wednesday, Wed-nesday, also Thursday. Tlilnl luy Attciiduuiv Light, The uttendanco on Thursduy, the last day of the fulr, in comparison with the preceding days, was light. On this day tho visitors from the country bkjpm their exodus, hurrying bock !( their duties on their forms and In their stores. It may be mentioned men-tioned here that the absence of the aeroplane had a good deal to do with the small attendance. The attractions at the ball park consisted of a football match between inn lurnon county nigu ncnooi unci I'rlce academy, n baseball gune bo-tuefcn bo-tuefcn Mohrland and Helper, an automobile auto-mobile rnco and two horse races, ao-onuntM ao-onuntM of which are given elsewhere. At about sundown the exhibitors In the fair building began to pack their belonglngr and what wus a brilliant nrruy of fine vegetables, grains, fruits, flowers, honey, needlework, cookery, etc., us wns ovCr brought together' vunlshed In a few minutes, and nothing noth-ing was left but bare shelves, litter and dust The various supervisors were certainly u tired bunch, and their nervei) were surely wonderfully tried by the ronstnnt rain of questions ques-tions poured upon them. The busiest man nt the fair grounds was without doubt Judge Arthur J. Ic. and It Is to his credit that his stnlla never wore off during the entire lime.
