Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS Sports 13 WEDNESDAY APRIL 7, 2004 Results of Cowboy Invitational Track Meet A total of 13 boys teams competed in the Cowboy Invitational Track Meet on Saturday, March 26. Kanab claimed first place with 98 points, while Panguitch was second with 91. Bryce Valley was third with 70 and Piute came in fourth with 51. Milford finished in fifth with 34, while South Sevier was sixth with 28. Millard came in seventh with 27. Escalante ended up in eighth with 22, while Enterprise was right behind them with 21. San Juan scored 17 to claim 10th. Fredonia finished in 11th with nine, while Valley and Beaver tied for last with six. Brandon Brown was named the boys outstanding athlete, scoring 34 points with one first and three seconds. Brown finished first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.91. He was second in the 200 meter dash, covering the distance in 24.29. Brown claimed second with a 60 leap in the high jump and cleared 209 in the long jump. Andy Heaton ran a 53.56 to take first place in the 400 meter run. He also finished eighth in the high jump, clearing 56 and a fourth in the pole vault. Brannon Vaughn picked up 15 team points with a second in the 110 meter hurdles in 17.04, a third in the 300 meter hurdles in 44.50 and sixth in the high jump, clearing 58. Jesse Fitting threw the jav- elin 1422 for second place. He also flung the discus 1293 for another second place ribbon. Fitting took third in the shot put with a heave of 46 1.5 Evan Orton took fifth in the shot put and the discus, with throws of 381.5 in the shot and 1116 in the discus. Mitchell Glazier leaped 171 to earn sixth in the long jump, while Shawn Johnson was eighth at 164. Arlyn Ramsay finshed 12th in the 1600 meter run with a time of6:04.35. Danny Brown was 19th in the shot put with a toss of 289.5 and 17th in the discus with a throw of 75. AJ Cserpes and Dan Fleshman finished 10th and 11th in the javelin with throws of 70 1 and 695 respectively. Kanabs relay teams picked up a second in the 4 x 100, a third in the 4 x 400 and a fourth in the 1600 sprint medley, with times of 49.87, 4:06.81 and 4:36.15. Fredonias Quade Johnson took first in the pole vault, clearing lOO and ninth in the high jump, going 56. Kin Finicum finished second in the 3200 meter run with a time of 1 1 : 1 1 .00. Wyatt Kimball cleared 80 in the pole vault for second place. Justin Johnson took sixth in the shot with a heave of 378and 11th in the shot, with a throw of 915. Trevin Mackelprang finished 15th in the long jump, going 146, while Josh Finicum was 26th in the shot put, with 251.5. Valleys David Glover finished third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:17.05 and 12th in the discus throw with a toss of 85 1 1. Brandon Stevens came in ninth in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:38.24 and 11th in the long jump with a leap of 159. She won both hurdle races with a time of 15.87 in the 100 meter and 46.26 in the 300 meter. She took first in the high jump, clearing 51 and the long jump, leaping 1610. Annie Child took second in the shot put, tossing it 296, and the javelin, with a throw of 8810. She also took sixth in the discus with a 645 heave. Courtney Crosby picked up two seconds, with a time of 13.54 in the 100 meter dash and 28.49 in the 200. Ruth Ann Judd claimed third in the 3200 meter run with a time of 14:26.00 and fifth in the 1600 with a 6:25.46 clocking. Katy Browning was fourth in the shot put with a heave of 287 and seventh in the discus with a toss of 635. Mickie Neil was seventh in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14:26. Stephanie Robinson finished ninth in the 1600 meter run in 7 :03.82 and 14th in the 800 meter in 2:54.00. The Kanab 4 x 100 relay team finished second with a time of 55.62 and the 4 x 400 relay came in fourth in 5:37.36. Fredonias Siera Bundy picked up a second in the high jump, clearing 46 and third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.58. Alayna Heaton came in second in the longjump, leaping 149.5 and a third in the high jump, clearing 46. Maria Webb came in sixth in the 400 meter run in 1:13.14 and 12th in the discus with a throw of 604. Katie Kimball threw the discus 4710 for 20th place.
