Is it thatheart-pound-in- g, feeling you get when you see your someone special? Is it like a lightning bolt crashing into your heart? Is it something that makes your head swim and your stomach chum? If it is then its more apt to be heartburn than love. Love is one of the most abused words tongue-tyin- g in our language; we use it in connection I with ideas, items and even people Ilove your shoes, and even love fishing sured item only to receive a smile in return. Even somethings simple as a hug can show how much you love someone. but saying love isnt love. I love you. More likely itsjustastrong desire to bedoing something, or to have something or to be with someone. As you can see, this kind of love Most people think love is because of, when real love is in spite of. For example, you still love your dog even though he makes a mess on the carpet, and you still love your mate even if he snores. Real love is unconditional, it asks no questions, it merely accepts what is. I believe thats what love is blind means. Real love doesnt lode for faults, or even acknowledges them if they stand out like green and purple spots. Real love locks beyond the exterior. If you ask someone, How do you show love for another? and they start to smile, then youve possibly found someone who confuses love with sex. Sex can be a big part of loving someone, but the two words are not interchangeable. Case in point: You loveyour dog, but you dont express that to him with isnt very specific or discriminating. I love you is fine, but its better to show; you could help even though you have a million things to do, or sacrifice a trea-- Ed. Student Says Journalists Are Responsible To Society As Well Editor. in society? Is it not true that society as a whole should share responsibility of nurturing our children, our valuable commodity? I accept the responsibility that accompanies teaching, and I am well aware of my influence on children. However, I find myself wondering if Tamera realizes how many in our society look to the media for answers ... she may have a bigger desk than I. I would like to respond to the article by teachTamera Evans concerning ers at Westminster which was featured on Page 2 of the Forum on Nov. 2, 1993. I would first like to thank Tamera for pre-servi- ce her alleged deep concerns about the future of our society. I would also like to commend Tamera on her ability to speak with such presumed eloquence on a subject she apparently knows little about and seemingly pardons herself from. Nonetheless, I aiq taken aback by the blameful tone of the article. I think her style of dealing with this subject was very refreshing. Whether you agree with her ideas or not, you must agree that she presented them in a fair and educated manner. I am one who does agree with her, and I hope that more of us non- - or disgruntled members will have that tact and courage to speak out about the church. Its not that we havent had anything to say, but usually it is done in more of a criticizing and attacking way. I believe it is important for all of us to have and express our opinions, yet we should handle it in a way that will get our opinion across without offending. Sheyleen Eggertz junior, marketing ' Editor: , I was extremely offended by the article, Message to Future Teachers: Be Aware, featured in the Forum on Nov. 2, 1993. The journalist who wrote this article reported a conversation betwen two education majors that she overheard. First of all, how can an article be based on a conversation that a journalist wasnt even involved in? I find this extremely unethical and unprofessional. Next, using a conversation that has been taken out of context and generalizing it as if it were the attitudes of all education majors is extremely unfair. I am an education major Heather E.
