Show CITY COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS. The city council met on Wednesday evening last, in regular session, Mayor Campbell presiding. E. B. Emnett, business manager of the Utah Journal, presented a petition for permission to obtain water from the city water works for running a motor to drive a power press. Referred. The committee on streets and alleys, to whom had been referred the matter of running a street and dugway from the corner of Second and Pine to the top of Temple Hill, reported that the subject of such a street was directly connected with the intention of council with regard to the future plotting and sale of the land south of the Temple, and asked that the matter be referred to the committees on streets and alleys and public lands jointly. Report received and adopted. The committee on public grounds were given further time in the matter of arranging for giving to the Logan and Smithfield Canal Co. a deed for certain lands. The city sexton presented his resignation, to take effect Oct. 15th. Accepted and Hugh Adams appointed his successor. Reports of the auditor and treasurer, presented, accepted and referred. Several bills were presented and allowed. The subject of a pest house was discussed and referred to the committee on quarantine. Council adjourned to meet on the last Wednesday in September. |
