According to class president Tex Bourland, eight girls were recently selected for the competition from the clubs and the institute. The girls include: Carol Beus, Lynn Olson, Mike Whitely, Sharon Welsh, Cheryl Clark, Karen Stewart, Kathy Star-ley, and Trudy Evans. The queen will receive a trophy. Frosh Vote for Queen Frosh will vote for the queen on March 8. Suzanne Wood is in charge of the voting. The concert will take place at Ogden High from 7:30 until 9:30, and the dance at the UB ballroom from 9:30 until 12. "Emerald Isle", featuring St. Patrick's deco- ations, will be the theme of the dance, with Roger Peterson as chairman. The Stardusters will provide the music for the sport dress event- Tickets Are On Sale Tickets are on sale at the UB desk or the municipal ticket office. Other frosh members working on committees include: Steve Broadbent and Leilani Fuller, freshman vice president and secretary; Jim Jacobs, Ruth Austad, and Charles Gunnel, advertising; and Kathy Hurst, John Howarth, and Sandy Shaw, tickets. ftflofion Pin Producer Coining To Weber Soon VOL. 4 NO. 20 By LeRoy Yorgason Adventure Motion Picture Producer Lt- Col. John D. Craig will bring an all-color motion picture entitled "The Spanish Main" to an Ogden audience March 21 at 8:15 p.m. in the Moench Auditorium. Colonel Craig is the star of television's action programs "I Search for Adventure", The Kingdom of the Sea", and "Danger is My Business." With a lifetime of adventure behind him, his specialty is making documentary films of strange places, jungle life, and undersea fairylands. His charming philosophy and disarming humor allows him to poke his camera into dangerous realms forbidden to less persevering characters. He has a valiant war record and is reputed to be a keen observer and an impartial reporter. Lecture Depicts Cruise His lecture and presentation of the film, "The Spanish Main", depict an exciting and picturesque air-sea cruise over, across and under the Caribean Sea, following the trails of historical buccaneers and Columbus. It features the Bahama Reefs, Dry Tortugas, Jamaica, Haiti, Florida Keys, a Civil War "Pentagon Building," our most remote National Park, and historical spots where Columbus once walked. "Col. Craig's lecture is the only appearance scheduled in the Moench Auditorium this year", Dr. Clair W. Johnson, Chairman of the Artist's and Lecture Series said. They will also appear at the Freshman class dance on "March 16. Weber State Bookstore will purchase used text books March 13, 14, and 15, Mr. L. P. Richins, manager, announced this week. MARCH 7, 1963 OGDEN, UTAH Season Symphony Wm The Utah Symphony Orchestra concludes a successful concert season here next Wednesday with an all orchestral performance in the Ogden High School Auditorium. Curtain time will be 8:30 p.m. Listed on the season final program is Brahms "Tragic Overture", "Death and Transfiguration" by Richard Strauss, and Beethoven's "Symphony No. 7". This appearance of the' Symphony is the last of seven this season which has brought four notable musical personalities to perform with the orchestra before the Ogden audience. Students are advised to pick up their tickets, free of charge at the treasurer's window starting Monday morning. A national wholesale buyer from Chicago, under the direction of the bookstore, will buy most books whether used here or not, during the week of final exams. In connection with the purchase of new books for Spring Quarter, Mr. Richins stated the policy for the return of erroneous purchases. He said that, "The book must (1) be returned within ten days of the date of purchase with our cash register receipt; (2) bear our price mark; (3) be absolutely free of all markings, either pencil or ink, other than our price mark." Mr. Richins added that defective books will be replaced at no charge and should be returned at once- "If this policy is not followed, the student cannot receive 100 refund for the return of a .new book, but be reimbursed according to the current used book price," Mr. Richins said. |
