The two big bursts helped Bonneville to a 27-- victory in the first game of the year for both clubs. 0 After the Lakers had put six points on the board with a 40-ya- touchdown pass from Rich Blackburn to Danny Call, the lakers didnt let up. Ellis, with lightening quick moves, took a handoff from scrimmage on the very next Bonneville possession and raced 60 yards for another touchdown. Ted Richards extra point made it 13m in only the first quarter. Ellis caught Ogden asleep in the waning moments of the first touch half, the result, an 85-ya-rd return. Bonneville had called time-ou- t with 13 seconds and remaining planned the play that would carry Ellis to paydirt. Marvin used blazing speed to outdistance ten of the opponents apd use some fancy foot work to outwit the final defender. The punt return and extra point gave Bonneville a 2(H) halftime lead and the long return set a new school record for Bonneville. Weve got just as many areas to improve in as any other school, said coach Tom Budge after the shutout, The offensive line deserves some extra credit. Royals ffmdoMti It's By Bliss Fullmer Roy High School suffered its most humiliating defeat ever, in its 384 loss to Bountiful, Friday on the Royal field. It was the season opener for both teams, and the Braves really took it to the Royals, with a little help from the black, white and gold. Roy won the toss of the coin and eleqted to receive, but could not move the ball. Bountiful fielded a punt on the Royal 46 yard line and penetrated to the 25, where Perkins kicked a field goal, with 4:41 left in the first quarter. The Braves scored again in the first quarter with 1:52 to be played, when Kott hit Perkins at full gallop, with a 43 yard pass, and jumped to a 104 lead. The second quarter was even more disastrous for the Royals. Bountiful gained momentum thanks to a series of Royal miscues which led directly to Bountiful touchdowns. The Braves scored with 4:28 left to then at the 2:03 mark, blitzed Roy on a punt and scored again. An alert Bountiful linebacker plucked off the ball on the Roy tweleve, and waltzed in for six points. And that wasnt the end of the first half fiasco. Roy funbled again in the final moments on its 18 yard line and the opportunist Bountiful team rammed in its 3lst point of the half, with just 23 seconds left on the dock. Coach Jacklin remained clam locker room in his half-tim- e assessment. Final score was 384 for the Braves. Bountiful dominated the game with 104 total yards. The Braves picked up 126 yards rushing on 43 trips through the line, and caught contest.
