In reporting the Dunham reunion reu-nion last week folks, I inadvertently missed the names of Ed and Kay Dunham and their children who were actually in charge of the successful suc-cessful event. My apologies. The program in Cannonville LDS Ward Sacrament meeting on Sunday was given by Bishop Larry Fletcher and Second Counselor George Thompson. They both gave good talks. Ward business consisted of releasing Marie Hayden as Relief Society President with a vote of appreciation for the fine work done. They called Mira Loy Ott to be the new president and she has asked that the previous board remain in their present offices for now. The Haydens have purchased a home in Henrieville and plan to move there soon. They will surely be missed and we wish them well. Marva Fletcher received a phone call that her brother-in-law, Dr. Bruce Arlen Barton, husband of former Rayda Thompson, had passed away in Richmond, VA. Funeral services and burial were Aug. 1 in Richmond. He received his doctorate in chemical research and worked for DuPont for many years. He was on the team that developed the material that the space suits worn by the astronauts were made of and he personally developed the fabric known as "dacron" that many of us have found useful. His wife, Rayda, grew up here and went to school in Tropic. She is also a sister to George Thompson, Julia Hall, Eleh Lazenby, Nellie Higbee and Laurie Coon. At the time of his death, he was LDS Stake Patriarch in area where he lived. |
