Janey Hoketts teaching method centers on a hands-o- n learning approach, and assignments in her classes are designed to build the students portfolio. Her class load for fall semester includes the following classes: Computer Imaging, Website Planning and Management and Principles of Layout and Design. Hokett brings with her a passion for teaching and a desire to share her experiences with her students. She has been a student since 1966, attending Utah State University, and she has earned three full-tim- Imagine yourself walking through a new neighbor-hbo- d. As you walk through this neighborhood, you notice how full of life this place is. At every comer, there is something going on, whether it is a band playing, a mini festival taking place, a meeting in session, or a group of people sitting together sharing their intellectual knowledge. Even better, the neighborhood is degrees a bachelors degree in American Studies, with an emphasis on museum management; a masters degree in American Studies, with an emphasis in folklore; and a second masters degree in Instructional Technology. Hoketts career experiences have led her from volunteering at a dinosaur museum to receiving an award for establishing several new programs at an elementary school, including the We Care program, the goal of which is to involve parents in their childrens classrooms. Also, she has taught art history and science for teenagers at Thompsen School in Roosevelt, Utah, and she designed the 65,000 square-foAmerican Western Heritage Museum, which is set to open in two years. Growing up in Fort Worth, Texas, Hokett developed her love for history. at-ri- sk filled with people, of all ages and backgrounds, just doing their thing. Aside from those attending the different events taking place, some are reading under the beautiful trees, some are eating, some are singing and dancing, some are running around, and some are just sitting by themselves quietly under a tree watching other people. This is what Westminster is like. A place 1 BUY RECYCLED. I I y a ot Her parents did not have much money, and, for entertainment, they would often take her family to historic landmarks. She remembers driving 50 miles out of the way to see a historic landmark. Hoketts favorite place to visit at 6 years of age was Oak Creek Canyon, Arizona. It holds her favorite memory of playing in a spring there and seeing a deer drink from it. Now at Westminster, Hokett hopes to offer aspiring instructional designers a whole new world of computer technology and all that can be accomplished with it. She says her best advice would be, Follow your interests, heart and never narrow your interest in any one field. Always open yourself to new experiences. And, most of all, use the Internet for career searching the possibilities are limitless! filled with wonderful people that all have one thing in comEDUCATION. mon Some of us are here to be educated and some are here to educate.
