Show i November 30, 1926 Oscar Lundquist, general contractor con-tractor on the school jSuildings at Duchesne and Roosevelt, has taken over the plastering of the Roosevelt building and now has the first coat on the two north, the two south rooms and the office of-fice and is working now on the. halls and stairway. All of the window sash have now been placed, which facilitates the plastering. At this time the Board of Education, "on account of lack of funds, will only complete com-plete four rooms and the office and wash room and will leave the other four rooms unfinished until such time as funds are available. The regular monthly meeting of the Roosevelt Parent-Teachers association was held in the Amusement hall Thursday evening. eve-ning. Mrs. Clarence I. Johnson, president, presided.John Watts, principal of the grade schools called the attention of the audience aud-ience to the almost total lack of playground equipment for the school children in the grades and made appeal for some assistance in the matter from the Parent- j Teacher association. After some discussion the Chair appointed L. D. Young, chairman; Homer P. Edwards and Mrs. D. P. Whit- ' more, a committee on play ground equipment with instruc- ' tions to furnish the desired articles ar-ticles and to find ways and means of securing the same. V I The first cross country run that the high school has had was held last Monday. The class competition com-petition was strong. One hundred boys lined up at the foot of the 1 high school hill, received numbers num-bers and were started by Coach Robinson. The course was down the lane to the main road, direct-' ly east to the Occidental Seed Company, back to main street and down to the Peppard seed plant and back to the high school. The distance is approximately approxi-mately two and a half miles. Or-val Or-val Galloway of the senior class came in first, making the run in ten minutes and forty-five seconds; sec-onds; Charles Larsen of the junior class crowded Orval to the rope coming in only a second later; Wesley Bastian and Neal Lundberg of the junior class were the next ones to pass the rope. |
