Emma Lopez, school age program assistant, is lead- ing the Children Helping Children Club at the Youth Center as they sew gingerbread dolls for the holidays. Her goal is to create dolls that will go one of two places. Dolls designated to go to the Child Devel- Center will be simple without any decorations an infant or toddler might choke on. Remaining dolls will go to local youth shelters. The dolls are something that a child can hold, cuddle with and take to bed with them, Lopez said, adding that while kids participating in the project learning skills like accurately cutting, sewing and placing a pattern together, theyre also learning the spirit of giving.
