Show Ho retraction Editor: On page three of the July 15, 1969, Summer Chronicle is an article written by D. Stephen Holbrook. In that article Mr. Holbrook purportedly quotes Mr. Joe Redburn, a former member of our staff, as saying KSXX was approached by the David W. Evans Advertising Agency with advertising from two accounts as bait, a payoff, if we would "tone things down a bit," limit discussion of certain topics, and not allow "certain people" to express their views on "TWO WAY RADIO." RA-DIO." Please be informed that this information is in total conflict with the facts. KSXX has never been approached by the Evans Agency, or any other, with possible advertising from L.D.S. Church owned accounts, as an inducement to modify our format. In view of such a gross misrepresentation of fact, I accordingly request the Summer Chronicle to publish a retraction. v Starley D. Bush General Manager KSXX Although it was unclear in the story, Mr. Redburn claims he was approached personally, rather than station KSXX being approached personally. That point should be made very clear. However, neither Mr. Redburn or Evans Advertising have disclaimed ' the statements to the Chronicle. Being as they are the parties directly involved, I do not feel compelled to print a retraction at this time. -Frank Erickson |
