Show Letter to the Editor Dear Editor How do you solve the ageless problem of fighting in Northern Ireland Ireland Ireland Ire Ire- land According to one Church of Ireland minister and his wife you start with the children Their dream became a reality in 1975 when Ulster Ulster Ulster ter Project was founded Ulster Project a profit non-profit organization organization organization organ organ- has eight operating centers in states east of the Mississippi Utah will become the ninth center in 1985 The purpose is to bring Northern Ireland teenagers ages 14 to 16 who are selected by their clergy and teachers for leadership potential to the US U.S. for a planned four week visit These teenagers half Catholic and half Protestant half male and half female stay in host family homes having an American Ameri Ameri- can teenager counterpart The rhe goals of Ulster Project are many Basically it is a Christian community endeavor to bring an end to the violence in Northern Ireland Ireland Ire- Ire land and by influencing for good Catholic and Protestant teenagers teenage s from rom Northern Ireland By exposing them hem to life in American societies they e experience a new-found new sensation sensation sensation sensa sensa- tion of freedom where religious denomination is secondary to who they are The project has already had an imp impact ct in N Northern orther Ireland Parents of Project children have crossed religious lines in safety to work cooperatively for the Project Friendships developed among Northern Ireland teens of different religious backgrounds have been maintained once the participants returned returned returned re re- re- re turned home The Project has also won the support of the clergy in Northern Ireland communities On October 24 from 8 to 10 pm p.m. Ulster Utah Project-Utah is sponsoring a benefit concert at Symphony Hall The purpose of this concert is two two- fold We are trying to raise money to bring at least a dozen teenagers to Utah next summer We are also trying trying trying try try- ing to foster interest in Ulster Project Pro Pro- 1 Utah Utah through the use of the media The concert will feature Ten- Ten penny a local British Isles folk music group and Under Under- ground Clifton Jolley will by the Master of Ceremonies at this event The ticket price is 5 for adults and 3 for those 16 and younger Should you wish further information information information tion contact Judy Wight at 2354 She can be contacted at that number on Monday Wednesday and Friday afternoons in the evenings and over the weekends between now and October Sincerely Judy Wight Dear Editor I sure would like to know what an evening student like myself can do doto doto doto to join or participate te in DE DECA CA I know there are good leadership opportunities opportunities opportunities op op- op- op in DECA but the problem problem problem lem is that I work in the day when this and other activities take place Brian J.
