He urged that no outside preMure be put on the residents, but any action taken should arise from their own Initiative. Included ln the annexation problem, and to some the most vital question of all, is the school problem. If Provo annexM these people Provo schools will have to be provided for the students within the area, it was made clear by the Alpine school district authorities. This Involves a grave situation, It was explained, in which a rural area would have to leave the Lincoln school, already planned and for rural instruction, designed and be transported or be forced to walk to a city school quite nn- - dents as well, to My nothing of the costs Involved. The splitting up of Sharon stake wards Is also given as a problem Involved by several of the Orem residents who desire to Join Orem. If the area goes to Provo It may mean the disruption of some wards, and serious handicap to many stake projects. The situation was made more complicated Tuesday night by the passing of an annexation ordinance by the Orem Town Board, annexing the entire area la dispute. While the majority of these residents are favorable to the annexation proposal with Orem, yet a majority of the residents in that section of the area lying nearest Provo are strongly opposed to Joining Orem, and prefer to come Into Provo. Anderson announced Mayor Wednesday that Provo city would now proceed Immediately to annex the area asking for annexation to Provo, which means that many residents are going to be annexed to both Orem and Provo. It looks like the matter could only be settled ln the courts, according to Mayor Anderson's views, as those opposed to Orems action will undoubtedly protest, and evidently only the courts can free them.
