Well OK you arc right When OJ first was accused of stabbing his wire Nicole and her friend almost everybody was interested in seeing if he really committed this heinous crime They watched the television set as the while Bronco was racing along the freeway away from the police They watched the trial so they could to see the outcome But it has gotten to the point of being so drawn out that hardly anybody is interested any longer and would rather sec the jury “hang the sucker" said a CEU student This is the first time an actual criminal case has been televised in our history so it should he somewhat interesting It actually shows us how the system works which could be a good thing But most students on campus aren't interested anymore On the CEU campus students were interviewed half of (hem arc not interested in the case at all 23 percent used to be interested and 22 percent arc currently interested Of the students not interested they wish that he would just get pulled off the television so they can gel on with their lives without OJ interference any longer Orl None of the students interviewed arc avid followers of the case any by Thomas staff writer longer Only a quarter of them keep up with what is going on once in a Getting a good education is the dream of many young women and men around the world The dream may he the while These people arc just curious as to what happens Whereas 75 aspiration is to excel to the higher plane of life it avoid to as much as humanely possible percent try At CEU there is a wide diversity of nationalities in our classrooms and sharing living spaces But a question comes to Even though not very many students arc interested any longer they still mind do we ever notice these students and appreciate their contribution to the college community and possibly to ourhave their opinion as to whether or not he is guilty Of the students asked selves? One of the greatest thoughts I've ever had the privilege to hear was “You will be the same in five years as you are today 60 percent thinks OJ is guilty Some hope that he fries because he is as for the people you meet and the hooks you read" “guilty as sin" They think that his previous patterns of rage proves his except Expanding one's horizons is not a crime for us in the United States it is a given but many of us turn from this opportuguilt A lesser number of 40 percent thinks OJ is innocent “With all the nity rushing yards he had how can lie be guilty?" said Russ Karen who is Not these students they have a fire in them a quest to be their best Even in simpliflng and understanding our language obviously rooting for OJ Others think that because he is and has always which at limes is something most of us have trouble doing ourselves But to watch them to hear these people work on this been the only suspect he cun never have a fair trial Some lake the easy would be respected their zeal for perfection way out and say he is innocent until proven guilty Many of the international students from Japan Uruguay Korea France Denmark Hong Kong Canada Nepal and Whatever the case may be according to most students on campus OJ Mexico gathered together ul CEU with the same insight the same dream we all have the dream of being more Many of is becoming a the students have graduated from other higher educational institutions in their countries And from here more than 70 percent of them go on to achieve their bachelor's degrees and more Getting to know you four-letter-wo- rd Depending on the personality of the individual some enjoy the American ways But speaking honestly some do like sticking with their groups and cultural ways This sounds a little like the way students are in (he states Seems things are the same everywhere hut let us not forget that everyone likes to be noticed and welcome Many of these international or foreign students feel (he same way tlicy love the school and enjoy being here They like being part of the activities and respect logical opinions and logical thinking But let's admit it our life styles and attitudes are enough to educate them Although “The American culture can he a little impolite at times and people have trouble following through with what is agreed upon" said one of the students In a book titled “Life Can Be Tremendous" Samuel Smiles said “We learn wisdom from failure much more than from success we often discover what will do by Finding out what will not do and probably he who never made a mistake never made a discovery" This discovery is what being at CEU is all about mistakes are only human In response to "Athletics over Academics?"
