Salt Lake County resident Emily K. Houtz, 32, was ordered to serve 53 days in jail, complete 150 hours of community service and pay restitution. She was also originally charged with two misdemeanor counts of theft by deception, which were dismissed. Houtz was sentenced May 24 after pleading guilty in April. She and co-defendant Michael C. Shields, 29. of Salt Lake County, were accused of burglarizing a home in Francis. The defendants were also ordered by the court not to have contact with each other.
