Show WASATCH Ten Ways to Save Local Business Without Spending a; ‘Penny When we moved to Heber a little over two years ago we were totally hia Bn ss <5 committed to patronizing local merchants wherever possible. We have found that it has been mostly Mission Impossible. I would like to offer some pointers for business people who seem to be missing the point of why they are in business — the customer who needs something from you and is will- ing to pay for it. The business person should not make it impossible for this to occur. I will offer some lessons that have come from numerous. unhappy personal experiences in the hope that local merchants: might learn something that would improve their busi- ness. While it would seem that these points are so elementary that they don’t need to be said, apparently there are many (certainly not all) merchants in the Heber Valley who haven’t gotten the message. I am probably not unlike many others who, if unable to resolve a situation by discussing it, will vote with my feet and take my business else- where, whether to another local merchant or someone outside the valley if they are the only ones offering those COUNTY article, I have never found lack of parking to be an issue for me; it has all come down to poor attitude toward the customer which has manifested itself in the following ways. Businesses selling food should be spotless. You shouldn’t have to: worry if a customer gets a glimpse of the kitchen. Sweep your walk, clean the gutter in front, trim the weeds and bushes, consider a paint job on the facade if necessary. Lesson 8: Keep your finances straight. Don’t double bill or lose cus- they are successful. They don’t know how much more successful they could be or how much they have lost.
